Summit Consulting, LLC’s newest #blog looks at an important tool to fight fraud: evidence. Protecting government programs from fraud is a continually evolving challenge, and it’s getting harder as fraudsters get more sophisticated. Fraudsters are weaponizing technology like #AI and taking advantage of federal recovery and resilience programs responding to disasters like pandemics, hurricanes, wildfires, and more. In this environment, federal agencies like the U.S. Small Business Administration are using evidence in new ways to modernize fraud risk mitigation processes and build a fraud-fighting culture to stay ahead of the game. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Federal Committee on Statistical Methodology (FCSM) Conference! It was an insightful experience discussing our modular approach to survey editing and imputation, developed in partnership with USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Additionally, the sessions provided valuable insights into the latest challenges and advancements in statistical methodologies across the public sector. Key takeaways -- 1. Many agencies are grappling with the challenge of missing data, a common barrier to drawing accurate insights from surveys and datasets. 2. There are multiple strategies to address missing data, each with its own strengths and limitations. Choosing the best approach depends on the specific data context and goals of each agency. We're inspired by the collaborative spirit of the FCSM community as we all work towards enhancing data quality and reliability in public sector research. #FCSM2024 #SurveyMethods #DataQuality -- Albert Lee, Gunnar Ingle, Nicole Schwartz
