  • As we approach the end of 2024, we reflect on a remarkable year of growth for Starlight. Here are some of our key achievements:   ✅ Reached approximately 12.5GW under development, spread across over 100 utility-scale projects internationally. ✅ Starlight’s “Land of the Sun,” project awarded a first-in-kind tender as an advanced agrivoltaics plant. ✅ Secured CAD 23m of financing to further progress Canadian developments. ✅ Secured environmental permits for flagship assets in Canada and Greece.   We are proud to share that we have strengthened our team to almost 50 professionals, with the size of the team almost doubling in 2024, both via organic hiring and following the acquisitions of two sector leading companies, Entrope in Italy and Intelligent Alternatives in the UK.   As we reflect on our numerous milestones, we look forward to the continued growth and opportunities that lie ahead in 2025.

  • The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has today published its #CleanPowerActionPlan, outlining the UK's route to achieving clean power by 2030. This plan, along with NESO’s Clean Power 2030 (CP30) report, brings much-needed clarity and demonstrates the new government's commitment to renewable energy.   Starlight remains supportive of the UK government's goals and the progress being made. Marrying these with the proposed changes to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), which includes plans to allow local planning authorities to grant larger project approvals, represent a significant milestone for the sector. This will hopefully streamline decision making and enable more homes and businesses to benefit from the expansion of clean energy more quickly.    The government's plans to address the current UK grid connection challenges and adapt the planning system to favour responsibly-developed projects is a vital, and much-welcomed step forward. Looking ahead, Starlight is eager to see this ambition realised, with detailed legislation needed to bring both plans to fruition. • Starlight is proud to announce significant progress with its renewable energy portfolio in Alberta, Canada. The portfolio now totals approximately 2GWp of solar PV and 695MW of co-located Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across 12 projects. Starlight's Cluster Assessment 1 portfolio has advanced to Stage 3 of the AESO interconnection process, with additional projects submitted for Cluster Assessment 2, permit applications filed with the AUC, and recent development financing of approximately C$23 million secured, highlighting the company's extensive progress and support from partners. Marc Stachiw, Starlight’s Vice President, Business Development Canada & U.S. commented: “Starlight is closely monitoring upcoming changes to the AUC Rules and the AESO’s Restructured Energy Market. These regulatory developments are poised to reshape Alberta’s renewable energy landscape, and the Company is prepared to adapt and thrive in this evolving environment. "As Starlight continues to grow, it is also actively looking to expand the team in Alberta, seeking talented professionals to support its ambitious pipeline.” Gianluca Boccanera, Global Managing Director of Starlight added: “While Alberta remains a key focus, we are planning for expansion into other jurisdictions across Canada and the United States. The Company is interested in engaging with stakeholders, including local developers, landowners, and government bodies, to explore partnership and project opportunities”. • This week Starlight’s “Land of the Sun,” a 73.5MW agrivoltaics project in Italy, was awarded a first-in-kind tender as an advanced agrivoltaics plant. The project secured an attractive 20-year CfD and an additional CAPEX contribution, financed by the European Commission’s Recovery and Resilience Facility. This achievement is a testament to the entire Starlight team, who managed to obtain the largest contribution per MWp of the entire auction, combined with the lowest reduction to the initial strike price for the CfD. The team look forward to further advancing the project in the coming months. | #Agrivoltaics | #SolarPV | #AgriPV | #Renewablesitaly | #Energytransition | #Terradelsole | #Nextisnow |

Starlight proudly hosted Italy's first "Community Laboratory for Agrivoltaics" in Friuli, Italy on Saturday. The event, promoted by the Department of Architecture of the Università degli Studi di Firenze in collaboration with Starlight, brought together a variety of stakeholders, including professors, agronomists, architects, and local institutions. Leveraging its extensive expertise in renewable energy and community engagement, Starlight played a key role in organising and driving this initiative. The laboratory included workshops and co-design sessions, ensuring local knowledge and preferences were at the heart of the process. Stefano Pieroni, Business Development Director for Starlight in Italy, commented: “This event represents an important step towards integrating renewable energies into our agricultural landscape, while promoting sustainability and local community involvement. "We firmly believe that dialogue and co-design with the community are fundamental for the success of the energy transition, which is not only a transition towards less impactful energy sources but also and above all an emotional transition towards a different perception of our landscape."
