Can you see our HALO? The Space Development Agency is hosting an industry day with MIT Lincoln Laboratory for Hybrid Acquisition for Proliferated LEO (HALO) pool members and invited potential payload providers. The industry day will take place February 10-11, 2025 in Lexington, Mass., and will focus on the draft prototype order for the upcoming Tranche 2 Demonstration and Experimentation Program (T2DES) Europa mission. HALO pool members will receive details through official channels. U.S. companies interested in providing payloads for T2DES Europa should read carefully and respond to the special notice at the link below. In May, Payload recognized SDA for setting a new standard for how the government does business and for offering new benefits for the space industrial base, including: 1. Predictable acquisition cycles with new contracts issued every two years that help companies from primes to suppliers prepare. 2. Flexible contract methods, including Other Transaction Authority, that allow the office to better absorb the effects of budgetary anomalies, such as continuing resolutions. 3. Set requirements that do not change while working on the program. Today marks the fifth anniversary of the United States Space Force. As part of the Space Force, SDA supports terrestrial warfighting missions through development, fielding and operation of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (#PWSA). During our 5th year, together USSF and SDA have demonstrated significant milestones from low Earth orbit and laid the groundwork for future space operations. The PWSA is an integral part of the Space Force’s force design and is a part of the shared vision for the future of hybrid space architecture. In May 2024, SDA cut the ribbon on our Space Operations Center- South located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. The Ops Center-South facility renovations began in the fall of 2022. The SDA-South team represents the second largest SDA presence behind the SDA headquarters and is seeing growth in mission size and personnel. Last week, SDA announced a final RFP for Program Integration of Tranche 3 of the #PWSA. T3 Program Integration effort includes systems engineering and integration activities necessary to facilitate the delivery and interoperability of T3 Tracking, T3 Transport, and T3 Custody Layer and their integration with the PWSA ground segment and user segment to advance the operational PWSA. SDA asks respondents to submit PWSA T3 Program Integration solutions by noon ET, Jan. 31, 2025. In April 2024, SDA announced an award worth approx. $414M to Millennium Space Systems, Inc. to build eight space vehicles to accelerate fire-control support for global detection, warning, and precision tracking of potential threats. Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company, will deliver eight satellites with EO/IR sensors as part of the Fire-control On Orbit-support-to-the-war Fighter (#FOOFighter) Program. The FOO Fighter or F2 system will demonstrate advanced defense capability by incorporating fire control-quality sensors into an operational demonstration constellation, ultimately helping deliver capability for the warfighter. #SemperCitius #Defense #Space #PWSA #SDADelivers2024

In April 2024, SDA broke ground in Norway’s High North to establish an SDA temporary ground entry point (GEP). The announced partnership with Norway’s Ministry of Defence supports space infrastructure from Andøya Air Base for situational awareness, communication for command and control, and notification to Norway and NATO. #SemperCitius #Defense #Space #PWSA #SDADelivers2024

Thank you CACI International Inc for hosting SDA and Director Derek Tournear, last week at your state-of-the-art Optical Communications and Photonic Solutions facility in Florida. SDA toured the newly expanded facility and watched the manufacturing and testing of the company's optical communication terminals (OCT) for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (#PWSA), which will provide connectivity from Transport Layer space vehicles to other OCTs that are compliant with the SDA OCT Standard.
