🎉 Celebrating Excellence at the CC for Iowa Tradeshow and Convention! 🎉 The SWCC Business & Community Development Department had an amazing time attending the Community Colleges for Iowa Tradeshow and Convention last week in Des Moines! This annual event brought together Iowa’s 15 community colleges to celebrate achievements, share ideas, and collaborate on the latest technologies and best practices. We are thrilled to share that TWO of our incredible SWCC team members were honored during the Community Colleges for Iowa Awards reception and dinner on Dec. 4, 2024, at the Des Moines Marriott! 🏆 ✨ Regina Long of Creston, SWCC Business and Information Technology Instructor since 1999, was recognized for her outstanding contributions to education, including developing assessment processes, representing SWCC at accreditation visits, and leading initiatives on the college’s quality faculty plan committee. ✨ Kim Oaks of Murray, SWCC Director of Continuing Education & Business Training, was celebrated for her 40 years of leadership in business and industry training programs. Her recent work on the CDL training program has had a major impact across southwest Iowa, and her dedication is truly unmatched. The awards honor the excellence of faculty and staff across Iowa’s community colleges, and we couldn’t be prouder of Regina and Kim for their well-deserved recognition! 🙌 Oh, and we couldn’t leave without some fun—our team had a blast participating in the carpet bowling tournament 🎳. Individual will assist the ECE/PAT director in fulfilling the goals and objective of the ECE Parents as Teachers program by providing family support and parent education to parents in the community. This is a part-time position, 20-30 hours weekly. Review of applications will begin upon receiving qualified applicants and will continue until the position is filled. This has been a grant funded position since 2010 and will be re-evaluated at the end of the funding period. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in early childhood, human development and family studies, education, health or related field. Experience as a home visitor/parent educator AND possess a Home Visitor Credential or National Family Support Professional Certification preferred.
