Our days are getting more sunshine. Is your utility doing the same? ☀️ SunRisers are the utilities in our region exhibiting the highest solar ambition (calculated by looking at the forecasted increase in watts per customer solar ratio between 2023 and 2027). SunBlockers are the ones exhibiting the lowest. How does your utility stack up?

About us
Founded in 1985, the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is a nonprofit organization that promotes responsible and equitable energy choices that work to address the impacts of global climate change and ensure clean, safe, and healthy communities throughout the Southeast. As a leading voice for energy policy in our region, SACE works to protect the quality of life and treasured places in the Southeast. Our dedicated and diverse staff is poised to tackle our region’s energy challenges and harness the economic opportunities presented by clean renewable energy. SACE advocates for federal, state and local climate solutions, energy efficiency programs and policies, and renewable energy development such as solar, wind, and sustainable bioenergy. We promote clean fuels and vehicles, oppose high-risk nuclear and coal-fired power plant expansion, and encourage the retirement of old, dirty inefficient coal-fired power plants in our region. For over 30 years, SACE has worked as a strong defender of the environment, challenging the status quo and working to minimize the impact of the energy sector on our region’s communities, natural resources, and economies. We are committed to ensuring that communities throughout the Southeast never have to choose between a healthy environment and a stable economy.

Lots of big #EV and #battery manufacturing news this week in the Southeast and beyond. Ford Motor Company and its South Korean battery manufacturing partner SK On finalized a $9.63 billion loan with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the largest ever from the government's Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing loan program. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/edQnPqPg This is in addition to a $6.6 billion loan to Rivian to aid the construction of its plant in Georgia to begin building smaller, less expensive EVs in 2028. announced last month. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eBbbsw3z The DOE then announced $1.7 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act to support the conversion of 11 shuttered or at-risk auto manufacturing and assembly facilities across eight states—Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, and Virginia—to manufacture #electricvehicles and their supply chains. To support that effort, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will receive more than $5.5 million to work with industry representatives and other stakeholders to determine how eligible manufacturers will be selected to receive funding. Real stories from real people around the Southeast 🗣️ The largest climate and clean energy law in U.S. history, the Inflation Reduction Act, is reducing harmful pollution, ushering in thousands of good-paying clean energy jobs, and bringing in billions of dollars in clean energy investments to the Southeast. About 1 in 50 Southeast households used clean energy or energy efficiency tax credits (courtesy of the Inflation Reduction Act) in tax year 2023 to make upgrades to their homes. If you've made any clean energy or energy efficiency upgrades to your home or vehicle, let us know in the comments 👇 #ClimateWinsHere

The data does not lie: #EVs and #hybrids continue to drive US automotive sector growth. In Q3, pure battery #EVs climbed towards 9% of new car sales, and plug-ins and hybrids brought the total battery drivetrain market share to over 21%. Meanwhile, pure internal combustion car sales continued their 5-year slide. As automakers increasingly bring desirable battery drivetrain models to showroom floors and falling battery costs push EVs closer to price parity with gas cars, perhaps as early as 2026, consumer interest in electric transportation is growing. Pure battery EV growth is most substantial in the luxury car market, which accounted for 71% of Q3 EV sales. Some folks see this luxury market data and discredit broader EV growth trends, seeing EVs as niche toys for the well-to-do. But I see it differently: With its lack of price sensitivity, the luxury market serves as a harbinger for the broader auto market once price parity between electric and gas vehicles is reached—remove consumer cost concerns, and away EVs go! What do you see in the data? Read more from about Q3 sales here: https://lnkd.in/ehGfY4Uz #electricvehicles #cars #climateaction #cleanenergygeneration

It was fun to join David Ferris on the airwaves, talking EVs on Atlanta's NPR affiliate WABE. "When it comes to the electric vehicle industry, David Ferris, a reporter from Politico's Energy and Environment News, says Georgia has skin in the game. Since 2018, more than $27.3 billion of investments have been made in the e-mobility industry in Georgia. Governor Brian Kemp has also pledged for the Peach State to become the EV capital of the world. Data also suggest there are more than 100,000 electric vehicles on Georgia's roadways. Currently, under the Biden administration, car buyers can receive up to a $7,500 tax credit towards the purchase of an electric vehicle. However, President-elect Donald Trump is promising to repeal that tax credit. On Tuesday's edition of "Closer Look," Ferris and Stan Cross, the electric transportation director at the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, talk more about the current state of the electric vehicle industry and how the industry could expand or change under the incoming Trump administration. They also shared how tariffs, jobs and EV regulations are critical for a robust EV industry." #electricvehicles #ev #evcharging #batteries #cleanenergyjobs #climateaction #cleanenergygeneration
