26 weeks till #SOLWorld2025 … Last week we officially launched the website, today already 35 people have registered! 🥳 💰 The cost of the ticket covers all conference activities, three light lunches, coffee breaks, and the Thursday evening conference dinner and cabaret. VAT is already included in the price. 🏨 Accommodation is not part of the ticket package, you need to arrange your own hotel stay. Once you register, you will be sent an invoice for your ticket and provided with discount codes for various nearby hotels. 💡 On our website, you can already find more information, also about venue and lodging: www.solworld2025.org . Don't hesitate too long to register: we have already got mails from several enthusiasts, eagerly awaiting the launch of the website. Next week we will officially launch our SOLWorld 2025 website, this week we present our magnificent Conference venue. 🏨 The venue we have chosen is the Predikheren in Mechelen, a former Baroque Dominican monastery from the 17th century. It was closed as a convent with the French Revolution. It then briefly served as a shelter for the impoverished elderly and later became a military hospital and storage facility for military arsenals. After World War I, the complex functioned as a military barracks for a time, and in 1977, it was left vacant. 📖 In 1980, it was designated as a protected monument, but it was only at the beginning of the 21st century that plans began to take shape to house the new municipal library there, following a new, contemporary concept. 🏆 On 26 February 2019, Tourism Flanders recognised the Predikheren as a Flanders Heritage Venue, meaning that it will be promoted as one of the six top venues in Flanders for MICE activities (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions). ⛪ The plenary space for the SOLWorld Conference will be the Predikherenkerk: a beautiful auditorium with a capacity of 130 people. The restoration is ongoing, and once completed, this hall will not only be used for lectures and conferences, will also serve as a hub for professional jazz and classical music in the city. 🏘 The Predikheren is fully integrated into its surroundings: it forms a cohesive whole with the new residential buildings on the Tinel site, Kazerne Dossin, and the City Archive. We are definitely in love with this beautiful venue, and we are proud to be able to host the SOL Community here next year! What is your first impression of the venue? 🙂... As the theme for the SOL World Conference 2025, we have chosen “IN GOOD COMPANY.” From the start, as an organising team we aspire to embody this theme in our collaboration, aiming to be Good Company for each other in all we do. This includes maintaining a balance between being clear, efficient, and results-oriented—after all, we hold high Best Hopes for ‘our’ conference 😊—and staying connected, keeping it light, and enjoying our time together. By living it, we have already become big fans of the theme, and we trust that it will genuinely enrich next year’s Conference. Here come some ‘Did you know’ questions as sweet memories for the veterans, and inspiring new information for the newbies 😊 Did you know that… 💡… SOLWorld started 30 years ago with ‘the Bristol Solutions Group’? - Mark McKergow, Jenny Clarke and @Harry Norman started it as a monthly public SF meeting in april 1994. 💡… the first SOLWorld Conference was in Bristol, in February 2002? - By late 2000, Mark McKergow and Paul Z Jackson had sparked off the idea of a conference to celebrate the publication of their book ‘The Solution Focus’. They expected about 20 people, but 80 came, from 9 countries including across the Atlantic. 💡… Mark McKergow started the SOLWorld mail list also back in 2002? - The original name of the list was SOLUTIONS-L, and all the list postings are archived and available. 💡… ‘SOL’ in SOLWorld refers both to ‘Solution Focus’ and to the Latin word for ‘sun’? - The sun is still the SOLWorld logo. 💡… the SOLWorld Candlestick made its first appearance at the end of the 2003 SOLWorld Conference? - Since then, the candlestick, made from Bristol blue glass, has been carried across the world to the opening ceremonies of SOLWorld events.
