Introducing socra AI Where humans and AI agents join forces to tackle challenges and achieve more together. Our story We started building socra two years ago. Our mission: Help people crush their goals with AI. Back in January, we were approaching a million lines of code and we had over 60k sign ups, but our retention was poor. The original platform wasn't very useful past helping users plan their goals. AI could craft the perfect plan, but users didn't follow through. That's why we decided to rebuild everything from the ground up. We spent the past year focusing on utility over flashy features. Our top priority became focusing on helping our users make progress. We built a platform where individuals, teams, communities, and AI agents can all collaborate to make progress together. The new platform serves as a dynamic hub for creating, consuming, and sharing knowledge. Knowledge is the ultimate key to problem-solving and solving problems is how we achieve our goals. We've been using socra to achieve our own goals, such as building the platform itself. It has helped us eliminate context switching, collaborate asynchronously, brainstorm, solve problems, delegate tasks to each other and AI agents, and stay productive and organized. We launched socra AI in March 2023 with a vision of helping people achieve their goals with AI. By the end of 2023, our platform had grown to over 60,000 users. It was an exciting ride, but as we paid close attention to our users' needs, we realized that we hadn't quite hit the mark. People planned their goals but would rarely achieve them. This understanding changed everything about how we thought about using AI to empower people to achieve goals. People often knew what they had to do; they just wanted the AI to do it for them instead of telling them what to do. They wanted to be in control of their decisions and maintain a sense of autonomy. Users preferred a collaborative approach, where the AI would work alongside them (and their team), helping them solve problems and complete tasks to accelerate progress. In January 2024, we decided to rebuild everything from the ground up. We changed our focus from planning and guidance to collaboration and execution. I'm a non-technical co-founder, but I've made over one thousand contributions to our codebase in the past year. With AI tools, the gap between technical and non-technical founders is shrinking. As a founder, you should be ready to dive into any aspect of your startup. AI can be your advantage because it can quickly elevate you from beginner to intermediate in many domains. You might not become an expert overnight, but you can reach a level where you can start making meaningful contributions right away. This has also given me a deeper appreciation for my co-founder's work and improved my understanding of how our platform functions. I use socra and GitHub copilot.
