Imagine working in a space that’s more than just an office — where every 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 and enhances daily well-being. 𝟰𝟮𝗫𝗫 is a first-of-its-kind campus in 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘆, featuring a collaboration between 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱-𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 RIOS and The Bradmore Group, who together reimagined the conventional office structural grid. By combining 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲, they achieved a 𝟱𝟬% 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 over traditional concrete, reducing the carbon footprint to the equivalent of removing 𝟮𝟲𝟮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿. Set among lush, mature landscaping and connected by open-air walkways and stairways, 𝟰𝟮𝗫𝗫 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿-𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗖𝗟𝗧 (Cross-Laminated Timber) was chosen to minimize global warming potential and lend a warm, authentic atmosphere, redefining the office experience for today and for the future. San Mateo County’s County Office Building 3 (𝗖𝗢𝗕𝟯) in Redwood City is setting new standards for sustainable civic design. As the first Civic Building in the U.S. to incorporate Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) construction with a Net-Zero energy design, this nearly 208,000-square-foot structure is a true innovation in public infrastructure. 𝗖𝗢𝗕𝟯’𝘀 mass timber design—with wood columns, beams, and CLT floor decks—significantly reduces its carbon footprint while enhancing seismic resilience. This lightweight material allows for smaller foundations and supports the County’s commitment to environmentally conscious construction. Designed to be fully energy independent, 𝗖𝗢𝗕𝟯 powers its operations entirely through rooftop and parking garage solar arrays. Features like automated shading and high-efficiency windows further enhance its energy performance, aiming for LEED Platinum Certification. SmartLam North America™ is proud to support projects like 𝗖𝗢𝗕𝟯, which reflect our vision of sustainable building and connect people to the natural environment. 𝗖𝗢𝗕𝟯 stands as a testament to the potential of mass timber in civic spaces, exemplifying a future where public buildings prioritize sustainability and resilience. #MassTimber #SustainableBuilding #CLT #NetZero #GreenBuilding #LEED #PublicInfrastructure #EnvironmentalLeadership #SmartLam #RedwoodCity #SanMateoCounty #CivicArchitecture #CarbonFootprint #BuildingTheFuture

As the use of mass timber continues to grow in Texas, we’re excited to highlight the 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 building in Fredericksburg—the first mass timber structure in the U.S. to feature 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗬𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 (𝗖𝗟𝗧). Native to Texas and neighboring states, Southern Yellow Pine was a natural choice for this project, selected by Gensler for its sustainability and local connection. The 𝟴,𝟱𝟬𝟬-𝘀𝗳 𝗻𝗲𝘁-𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 brings together exposed Southern Yellow Pine CLT panels and glulam beams to create a warm, welcoming environment in the lobby, community room, and office spaces. Situated just off the Foss Waterway Bridge on S 21st Street, 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀 is at the heart of Tacoma’s downtown revitalization. This stunning project blends the charm of Tacoma’s past with modern architectural brilliance. Nestled between the University of Washington Tacoma campus and the city's renowned museum district, Brewery Blocks offers easy access to fine dining, the Dome District, and cultural landmarks like the Chihuly Bridge of Glass. The developers envisioned making the old new again, and Brewery Blocks delivers. The project features a 4-story mass timber residential addition atop an existing historic 3-story building, creating a 7-story structure that exemplifies sustainable, innovative construction. Once part of Tacoma’s "warehouse district," Brewery Blocks will ultimately house over 200 units of market-rate housing. As the mass timber supplier, SmartLam North America™ is proud to contribute to a project that blends the future of urban living with the preservation of Tacoma’s rich history. In collaboration with our partners—architects John Chang, Lucia Castello, Terri Flynn, and general contractor Troy Spurlock—this development is a true reflection of innovation and heritage combined. _ #MassTimber #BreweryBlocks #SmartLam #TacomaWA #UrbanRevitalization #SustainableBuilding #TimberConstruction
