🏆 "Why are great coaches always under fire?" That's what one of our youth program directors asked me last week. My answer came from wisdom shared by my friend Rick Houcek: 🎯 The truth? Excellence attracts criticism. Always has. Always will. Think about it: 🏈 The head coach making tough calls about playing time 🥍 The program director enforcing team-first policies 🎽 The athletic director standing firm on academic standards Being a leader in youth sports means living under the constant spotlight of: Parent expectations Community pressure Social media scrutiny But here's what I've learned building Signature Athletics, Inc [Holding Co.]: 🔑 If you're not facing criticism, you might not be pushing hard enough for positive change. 3 principles I share with our coaches: 1️⃣ Focus on what serves the athletes, not what's popular with the crowd 2️⃣ Welcome constructive feedback, but don't let criticism derail your mission 3️⃣ Remember: The loudest voices aren't always the right voices 📣 To every youth coach, program director, and sports leader out there: Your willingness to make tough decisions today shapes tomorrow's athletes. Stand firm. Because at the end of the day, leadership isn't about being liked—it's about doing what's right for the kids we serve.
