Today is historic day for the Greater Sacramento region 🎉 $575 million (!!) in proposed CHIPS Act funds have been announced for Bosch USA’s Roseville facility. This would support the creation of Bosch’s largest SiC Semiconductor factory, up to 700 manufacturing, engineering and research and development jobs and make our region home to 40% of ALL U.S. production capacity for SiC chips – a critical component for electric vehicles, charging stations and similar technologies. This is the most important investment in the region’s competitiveness since Golden 1 Center. At $1.9 billion, Bosch’s Roseville facility is the largest semiconductor fab investment in California in 30 years. This is a transformational project for the region, elevating our prowess and profile in the global semiconductor ecosystem. GSEC is proud to have supported Bosch in its move to Roseville and ensuring its success here, including help with its CHIPS funding application. Congratulations to the Bosch team and a thank you to our regional partners for their support of this project, including Congresswoman Doris Matsui, Congressman Kevin Kiley, City of Roseville, Sierra College, Roseville Electric and Placer County.
