Check out our 'Guide Like No Other (GNLO)' 👉 lnkd.in/dnVVXQ3P 🐹 (w/ Adam Goulston / MacroLingo ) 👇 Our GLNO gives YOU FREE access to the ONLY comprehensive list of Journal Selection Tools out there online .... 👉 lnkd.in/dnVVXQ3P As well as loads of other advice and bonus content. The problems with journal selection are: 👉 no one has told you how to do it 👉 almost all journal finder tools push you to particular publishers BUT selecting a journal for your research is one of the most important decisions researchers like you make, if not the most ..... Our experience as #researchers and #editors has taught us a lot about this process. So we put together a GLNO to share our insights on the importance of selecting the right journal for your research. And you can probably start the process RIGHT NOW Before you even start writing .... Starting your search early is vital for ensuring a successful submission process. Yet so few researchers do this. They finish a paper and then think: Which journal? Then they have to go back, reformat, revise, rewrite, etc. That’s inefficient and unnecessary. So, why is choosing a journal so very important? .... We all get negative comments on our work. Nasty peer reviews. Rejection. How to handle? How to move on and (as Julie Andrews would say) ‘… have confidence in me!’ …. 👇 Join our next LinkedIn Live! Maria and Gareth will share Tips and Tricks for managing negative comments. Bounce back … Rejection is a fact of life for researchers ⛔👎 (e.g. articles & grants). It’s how we manage and move on from rejection that can have a positive or negative effect on our careers. Grant applications, manuscript submissions, postdoc and job applications; competition is fierce in academia, especially at early career stages. We reckon: Only Sales People get REJECTED MORE! It’s how we move on from rejection that can have a positive or negative effect on careers ... 🤛🔻🔻

How can we engage more effectively with #peerreviewers and keep them happily working for us at journals? Everyone knows it’s super hard to find peer reviewers for articles these days. Sometimes as an editor I had to send 15 or 20+ requests out via ScholarOne just to secure the required 2-3 reviews per paper. And it could take weeks. And weeks. It’s even harder to find willing, effective peer reviewers. Researchers keen to peer review are like Gold Dust, Rare as Hen’s Teeth and come around Once in a Blue Moon (= idioms ...) And the pool is shrinking. Especially in niche subject areas like palaeontology. You always end up inviting the same people to work on papers ..... What to do to better engage w/ #peerreviewers and encourage them to work happily with journals? Rewards and recognition are one obvious answer (Reviewer Credits / reviewercredits.com) but what about training? Access to publisher-specific rewards seem to be getting less and less popular with researchers: People want the freedom to spend their APC discount tokens (for example) at any journal they like … I see an increasing issue here, especially for hybrid journals .... We see more and more researchers turning down peer review requests simply because the journal in question is not accessible to everyone (i.e., is not fully OA) … Thoughts? (All examples - from our Sci-Train / sci-train.com training events - are real ….)
