  • We’re humbled to share that Sargent has been honored with the 2024 Maine Governor’s Award for Business Excellence in the Rural Revitalization category. This recognition reflects Sargent employee-owners' dedication to camaraderie and building up the next generation. Those who have been around to see a thing or two have proven that taking the time to invest in younger talent is a priority for them. From the work of the Workforce Advancement team and those in the field mentoring to the communities and business partners we work with, we’re grateful to everyone who has supported Sargent along its nearly century-long history. Congratulations to our fellow award recipients, Panolam Surface Systems, Maine Beer Company, and WEX.

  • Honoring 42 Years of Dedication! Congratulations to Doug Barnes on his retirement after a 42-year career with Sargent. Starting as a laborer earning $4.50 an hour in 1982, Doug’s journey with Sargent led him to become a respected superintendent, including running significant projects in Maine at the Juniper Ridge and Pine Tree landfill facilities. Doug’s early days were shaped by hard work and determination, from digging worms in Alton to following his father Reggie’s footsteps in construction. Over the years, he became known for his leadership, willingness to help others, and dedication to getting the job done. Looking back, Doug reflected on the camaraderie of his crew, saying, “They become your family,” and praised the ESOP, calling it one of the best decisions in the company’s history. In retirement, Doug looks forward to working on projects at his camps in Myra and Cold Stream Pond, visiting his daughter in Utah, and spending time with his stepsons in Maine. Thank you, Doug, for 42 years of dedication, hard work, and leadership. Your legacy at Sargent will not be forgotten. Wishing you a happy and fulfilling retirement! #retirement #thankyou #legacy #sargent

  • 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟴, a growing team of Sargent employee-owners has come together to ensure our legacy thrives as we grow responsibly and strategically. Under the leadership of our CEO, Herb Sargent, our 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 sessions have been a driving force behind our growth for almost seven years. These sessions have led to significant changes within the company, including enhanced internal processes through software adoption, innovative project approaches by our operations team, and the development of a plan to achieve our “Big Hairy Audacious Goal,” a big topic of discussion during this year’s gathering. 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸, we held our fourth strategic planning session, inviting fresh perspectives from across the company to bring new ideas and energy to our long-term goals. Thank you to the employee-owners who dedicated their day to this important work. Your contributions will shape the future of Sargent for years to come. #team #employeeownership #strategicplanning #sargent

  • Months of learning, sweat, and accomplishments lead to this year’s Sargent Construction Academy Graduation. These 2024 graduates earned their certifications, and the attending supervisors testified to their growth throughout the year. Superintendents from each of the graduate's projects stood up in front of family and Sargent leadership to share how well each of them performed over the summer. Even some stories about how they got their nicknames – we’re looking at you, “Tree Trunk.” From the first week of the SCA, where they learned valuable lessons about cleaning boots, eating healthy on the road, and what a productive member of the Sargent team looks like, to months in the field being mentored by superintendents, foremen, operators, and those getting dirty around them, they now have a summer to look back on and be proud of. Great job Honing your Craft. We look forward to seeing what you accomplish as you continue your career at Sargent or wherever you go. Congratulations to all 2024 SCA Graduates: Jake Deeney, Jacob Braley, Dillan Smith, Kimberly Thompson, Jordan Hobson, Richard Snowman, Landon Morin, Jeremiah Bailey, Cohen Noble, Nik Schrader, Steve Perreault, Roland Drinkwater, Andrew Goodwin, Caleb Walker and Nathan Solomon!

  • Seeing the growth in support for Feed More has been outstanding. Sargent employee-owners have been donating to Richmond Area Municipal Contractors Association's Holiday Food Drive over the last three years to help provide food to those who need it in the Richmond, VA, area. We’re pleased to be a part of the cause. Thank you to RAMCA for allowing Sargent and many other members to support our community and all the Sargent employee-owners who donated over 3227 lbs of non-perishable items this year!

Every year, RAMCA member companies collect non-perishable items for our Food Drive benefitting Feed More. Yesterday, we watched as our members pulled in with full boxes and truckloads of food. They donated a total of 4557lbs of food. That’s over 2 tons and a new personal record for our bunch! RAMCA would like to give a special shoutout to Sargent for winning our contest, bringing in the most pounds of food. They brought in a whopping 3227lbs! We are beyond proud of all our members and we’re inspired by how much they enjoy giving back to the community. Thank you to all who participated. Our members are already saying they plan on breaking 5,000lbs next year! #giveback #feedmore #fooddrive

  • Sargent employee-owners are finishing the 13.5-acre G1/G3 municipal solid waste landfill cell for the Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board. This marks our third successful project at this facility, having previously completed Cell F3 in 2020. The $8.6 million project kicked off in May 2024, and despite a tight 180-day schedule, our team rose to the challenge, maintaining progress to keep the landfill on track for its operational needs. Project Executive Travis Ridky remarked, “Sargent crews are always up for a good challenge.” Shout-out to the employee-owners and subcontractors who made this project a win! #dirtwork #construction #milestones #sargent

  • 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗪𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁! The new six-acre, 800-space parking lot at the Bangor International Airport is nearing completion, just in time for the busy holiday travel season. Over the past four months, Sargent crews worked hard to bring this project to life. Tasks included replacing an older sewer line, installing new walkways, lighting, landscaping, and implementing advanced stormwater management systems. This needed expansion addresses the growing demand for parking, driven by a 30% increase in passenger traffic over the last five years. We streamlined efforts to create the lot using materials from our I-395/Route 9 Connector project in Brewer, ME. A big shout-out to the employee-owners and subcontractors who made this possible, and a special thanks to airport personnel for their support. Your teamwork has ensured a smooth path to success. #construction #dirtwork #travel #bangor #airport #sargent
