  • Yesterday, we were excited to join TNDC, California Department of Housing & Community Development & the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development in celebrating 180 Jones. This new affordable housing, previously a parking lot, will bring 70 100% affordable homes for low-income residents, 35 of which will be reserved for people exiting homelessness. In addition to an on-site manager unit and the 35 subsidized units for adults exiting homelessness, 34 units will serve low-income residents making between 40% and 65% of the area’s median income. This project demonstrates the City’s commitment to making homelessness rare, brief, and one-time. • Today, San Francisco and the rest of the world will observe the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) to honor those we have lost and build momentum to end the ever-increasing violence against trans and gender non-conforming communities. This year’s theme, “Envisioning Safety: Uplifting Ancestors & Building Pathways to Liberation,” invites us to remember, grieve, and heal—while also, imagining a future of safety and liberation for trans communities. Join the remembrance today: 11/20 at 5 pm Location: Steps of City Hall, March to SF LGBT Center Schedule: 5:30 pm: Meet at City Hall & Rally 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm: March to SF LGBT Center (1800 Market St) 7 pm: Program Founded in 1999 by a small group of trans women activists, the purpose of TDOR is to ensure that the lives and deaths of trans people would be honored with dignity and respect. The loss of Black trans women Rita Hester and Chanelle Pickett became a catalyst for the trans community to record and memorialize the victims of violence who were misgendered, deadnamed, disregarded, and ignored as they deserved to be remembered --as their whole and true selves. • ~ Community Listening Session Tomorrow~ Join us tomorrow, 11/20 at 5 pm for a Community Listening Session for the Monarch and Adante Shelters. The Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH) is seeking to extend the leases of the Adante Shelter (610 Geary Street) and the Monarch Shelter (1015 Geary Street). The properties serve as shelters for San Francisco’s most vulnerable populations. The lease extensions are for 5 years with the option to extend for another 5. We are convening a virtual community conversation around the sites and how they contribute to the neighborhood.
