Today we celebrate #UniversalHealthCoverage Day and the global movement to ensure that everyone everywhere can access quality health care without financial hardship. 🩺 🌍 👐 Around the world, leaders are seeking to improve the health and well-being of their people by reaching marginalized populations and creating stronger, more equitable health systems. At R4D, we've been at the forefront of this effort, and one example is the groundbreaking Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator, a six-year, R4D-led initiative with funding from USAID, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation. On this #UHCDay, we're sharing key lessons and resources from the Accelerator that can help inform and improve how we advance health access and equity. Some of the Accelerator's accomplishments include: ⭐ Partnering with more than a dozen countries to support locally led health system strengthening, further developing and deploying 12 distinct approaches that moved beyond traditional technical assistance. ⭐ Making key advances in strengthening #primaryhealthcare and supporting #communityhealth workers by leveraging #healthfinancing and innovative service delivery improvements. ⭐ Developing new approaches to integrate previously siloed areas of mental health and psychosocial services, rehabilitative services and safe blood systems. ⭐ Strengthening the health policy and systems research ecosystem across Asia by convening institutions in 27 countries as a Collaborative Learning Network to promote the use of evidence in health policy design and implementation. ⭐ Supporting 60+ institutions from 18 countries around the world to grow their capacity in evidence generation and use. You can learn more about the Accelerator's work and accomplishments in its newly released final report. How can you impact thousands of learners with one set of activities? Find a policy window. In our latest blog, we share five crowdsourced pieces of advice from the School Action Learning Exchange (SALEX)on how to successfully open policy windows. A few keys to keep in mind: ➜ Remember policy is in the eye of the beholder — changes can start at a small scale. ➜ Having policymakers at the table is critical. Involving them early helps identify open policy windows. ➜ Everybody has a role, but it's important to clarify roles for evidence translation and policy advocacy. ➜ Sometimes policy isn’t the problem — the challenge can lie in poor implementation and enforcement. Read the full blog to see how these lessons are shaping policy change in education. 👉 https://lnkd.in/grszK4_k #R4D #globaleducation #SALEX #policy #education
