Clean energy is a critical driver of our economy, transcending partisan lines creating jobs across the country. Since 2022, over 100,000 domestic jobs have been announced, including 33,000 in Energy Communities. Wind techs and solar installers are the fastest-growing jobs in the U.S. and 46 states have launched new clean manufacturing projects. Community solar not only enhances competition, driving prices down, but also generates billions in savings and opportunities for local communities. By producing energy closer to home, it strengthens our grid for everyone, even those not using solar. #IRA #EnergySector #RenewableEconomy (SOURCE: American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) and Coalition for Community Solar Access)

Reactivate, an Invenergy company, had the opportunity to attend #DOE Justice Week 2024, which focused on advancing equity and justice in the energy sector. We engaged with stakeholders on Community Benefit Plans to ensure that local communities can meaningfully participate in their development. The discussions highlighted the importance of building strong community networks and reducing barriers for underrepresented groups. It’s encouraging to see various stakeholders, including the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), solar developers, and customers, united in making equity a central theme in the energy transition. Together, we can drive meaningful change and a just transition. #EnergyEquity

At this moment, North America’s #energy system faces clear challenges, as building new #infrastructure and onshoring #manufacturing is a difficult process that takes time. Nevertheless, public-private partnerships are driving record levels of #cleanenergy deployment across the continent – and a renewed focus on meaningful community engagement is creating a more inclusive energy economy. But how is this happening? What projects are really underway, and how are businesses overcoming these obstacles to deliver new clean energy solutions? Last month at #ClimateWeekNYC, BCSE and Hydro Québec partnered up to provide an on-the-ground progress report on the private sector response to these market signals. In our new blog, we break down the top takeaways from this event, including: - The public sector is strengthening clean energy market signals. In the past 2 years, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced >$80 billion in grants and loans for #energyefficiency and clean energy projects – which have spurred 334,565 new clean energy jobs nationwide and nearly $130 billion in private sector investment. - The private sector is seizing the moment to Build, Baby, Build! in New York. Industry leaders shared their New York state success stories, from laying high-voltage direct current #transmission lines, to installing new #microgrid technology at JFK International Airport. - Crucial to developing projects like these is building strong relationships between energy companies and local stakeholders. Industry panelists spoke to the importance of ensuring meaningful community benefits, particularly to low-to-moderate income and energy transition communities. - More work remains to build bridges and alleviate obstacles. Industry leaders highlighted the need for further progress on #workforce development and building strong supply chains. Yesterday our CEO, Utopia Hill, joined the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) and Hydro Québec at #ClimateWeekNYC to share an on-the-ground progress report on the North American #energytransition. #CleanEnergy businesses are ready to "build, baby, build!" and are working together with the public sector to get projects deployed, meet increasing demand, and set the foundation of a decarbonized future. #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy
BCSE closed the first day of #ClimateWeekNYC with a packed event discussing #cleanenergy deployment! Hosted in the offices of Norton Rose Fulbright, BCSE and Hydro Québec brought together public and private sector leaders to speak on the progress of #energy projects and #infrastructure being built out in New York state and beyond. What is needed next to speed up the clean energy transition at the ground level? Panelists agreed: community engagement - from working with unions and tribal governments, to building partnerships with community organizations - is key to reducing roadblocks and building up local economies. Plus, federal #permitting and siting reforms are critical to getting new clean energy projects up and running in a timely manner. Thanks to all who joined us on September 23, and special kudos to our featured speakers for sharing their insights: - Steve Capanna, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) - Abby Hopper, Solar Energy Industries Association - Peter Rose, Hydro Quebec - Serge Abergel, Hydro Quebec - Brian Gemmell, National Grid - Patricia Lombardi, P.E., New York Power Authority - Nate Teti, Equinor - Christopher Benjamin, Pacific Gas and Electric Company - Utopia Hill, Reactivate - Jeannie Salo, Schneider Electric Follow along the rest of this week as BCSE shines a light on our members and partners that are leading the clean energy transition.
