Flying Safe Together: Enhancing Aviation Safety through Collaboration
About us
The Regional Aviation Safety Group – Pan America (RASG-PA) was established in November 2008 to use the framework provided by the ICAO Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP) and the Global Aviation Safety Roadmap (GASR) to support the establishment and operation of a performance based aviation safety system in the Pan American Region. RASG-PA serves as regional cooperative for integrating global, regional, national, and industry efforts in continuing to enhance aviation safety in the Region. RASG-PA eliminates duplication of effort through the establishment of cooperative regional safety initiatives and activities. This coordinated approach significantly reduces both financial and human resource burdens on States and allows for the delivery of measurable safety improvements. Vision The RASG-PA vision is to remain ahead of any risks to commercial aviation, and to collaborate towards achieving the highest level of safety in the Pan American Region. Mission The RASG-PA mission is to reduce fatality risk in commercial aviation by ensuring prioritization, coordination and implementation of data-driven safety enhancement initiatives in the Pan American Region through the active involvement of all civil aviation stakeholders. 🌍✈️ Reflecting on the 2024 UPRT Workshop Last week we had the privilege of hosting the 2024 UPRT (Upset Prevention and Recovery Training) Workshop at our ATR Training Center in Miami, bringing together 23 participants from Civil Aviation Authorities across 10 countries. The workshop was born from the Pan America Regional Aviation Safety Team (PA-RAST), and we extend our heartfelt thanks to ICAO for sponsoring the event. A special thank you to Jeffrey Schroeder from the FAA for sharing his extensive experience and insights—your contributions truly enriched the event! During the three-day event, attendees engaged in academic discussions about upset prevention and recovery. Following the classroom sessions, participants had the opportunity to move to the simulator and review UPRT maneuvers in a practical setting. The final day featured presentations from experts who shared their experiences in UPRT training, offering valuable insights. We are confident that this workshop delivered valuable information to assist civil aviation authorities in developing UPRT training requirements for their respective countries. We express our gratitude to all the representatives of the authorities who traveled to Miami to join us. Your participation was invaluable. Additionally, we extend our thanks to the other aircraft manufacturers, Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer, for their collaboration and valuable contributions, and for providing access to the simulators. While we compete in the market, we stand united in our commitment to safety. Flight safety is a collective effort, and together, we can drive safety performance. #UPRT #AviationSafety #Collaboration #ATR #FAA #EASA #Airbus #Boeing #Embraer #PARAST #ICAO
