Thanks for sharing the tips on disk IO and local options!
This week, I wrote up my experiences using GitHub Codespaces and then moving back to local development at Prodvana. I've seen so many iterations of development environments over my career; from the early days of having a shared dev server with NFS mounts from developers' computers (hope your computer isn't off when the server reboots, otherwise it'll hang trying to mount), to local VM and then container based solutions... and then remote again, this time in the cloud instead of our server room. https://lnkd.in/eJ-eT4HG
Lots of improvements this month focused on B/G deployments and visualizing your intents! https://lnkd.in/gj4ePntx
Deploying software with Prodvana is based on defining requirements and intent instead of writing cumbersome, hard-to-collaborate, and hard-to-modify imperative CD pipelines. Take a look at how we visualize the compiled workflow in this video! #sre #infrastructure #platformengineering #devops #cicd #cicdpipelines #cicdpipeline
Read about strategies to managed tenants and environments to control operational overhead and provide a fantastic developer experience!
Here’s an overview of how to think about managing multiple environments/tenants with cloud infrastructure. We see a lot of teams try and manage multiple regions or tenants through TF exclusively. You’re in for a world of pain with that approach as your eng org grows. The key to scaling and a great DevEx to separating infrastructure and app. We talk about how to think about this architecturally in this post #sre #devops #infrastructure #cicd https://lnkd.in/gbUpEM_g
Most of your validations happen from teams outside of engineering. Read about why this is and what you can do to solve it. https://lnkd.in/gz9be6vn
Interesting technical post by our own Mike Cugini on our RBAC and auth journey.
Building RBAC was one of the biggest PITA things we've had to build in a B2B SaaS product with UI, CLI, and API. https://lnkd.in/gSqhxDv2 We documented our learnings, thoughts, and plans in this post by Mike Cugini, who does an excellent job laying out the landscape. Please let us know what we got wrong or right or if we could do something simpler. #security #auth #infrastructure #sre #devops #platformengineering
Prodvana's CTO, Naphat Sanguansin, likes to talk about shipping small quality-of-life improvements that make the life of an engineer just flat-out better. For him, getting a diff before applying was game-changing. It's another reminder that Prodvana is being built by engineers for engineers. All of us have carried the page, woken up at 2 AM, and been asked "Is that code out?" #developers #devex #infrastructure #sre #platformengineering #devops #cloudengineer
Excel has pivot tables to orient your data. Prodvana lets you quickly pivot your lens into your systems! Flip between simple and detailed views and service vs environment views depending on your audience! #cicd #devops #sre #platformengineering #infrastructure
Do you ever wish you had a production debugger that works like your IDE? Do you want to set breakpoints and introspect in real time what is happening to production environments? Prodvana's Observer Mode and Runtime State Inspector are exactly that. You can pause changes to production and inspect your desired states against your current state for any piece of infrastructure! No more spending hours helping teams debug failed homegrown deployment scripts or esoteric messages in other CI/CD systems.
