Florida Tech Professor Identifies a Third Branch of Episodic Memory Richard Addante, a renowned expert in episodic memory, has made a groundbreaking discovery that challenges our current understanding of how the human brain stores and retrieves information. Traditionally, episodic memory, which involves recalling personal experiences, has been categorized into two main processes: recollection and familiarity. Recollection allows us to vividly remember specific details, while familiarity provides a sense of recognition without precise recall. However, Addante's recent research, published in iScience, unveils a third distinct process: context familiarity. This process enables us to remember the general context of a memory, such as the location or time, without recalling specific details. By recognizing this new process, Addante proposes a revised model of episodic memory, which now encompasses three branches: recollection, item familiarity, and context familiarity. This refined model has significant implications for both theoretical understanding and clinical applications. A more accurate model of memory could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment of memory disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and traumatic brain injury. By understanding the specific mechanisms underlying different types of memory impairment, researchers and clinicians can develop more targeted interventions. #memory #CaseStudy #CaseStudies #alzheimersdisease #dementia #wellness #psychology #mindsetmatters #research #researchstudy #humanbrain #brainhealth #stanleyhgreene #powerthinkingcorp #episodicmemory

Study: Reduced Screen Time Boosts Kids' Mental Health A new study reveals significant benefits of reducing children's screen time. Researchers found that limiting leisure screen use to just three hours per week led to notable improvements in mental health within two weeks. Children in the study experienced decreased emotional and peer-related problems. Additionally, they demonstrated increased prosocial behaviors, such as helping others and showing empathy. These findings emphasize the importance of establishing healthy screen time limits for children to support their overall well-being and social development. #socialmedia #screentime #children #childhooddevelopment #wellness #mentalhealth #socialdevelopment #stanleyhgreene #powerthinkingcorp #linkedin #facebook #snapchat #tiktok #twitter #x #powerthinkingcorp
