Announcing: Placekey is now available on mimilabs! Data is more powerful when joined with disparate sources. Our CEO, Yubin Park, PhD, said this many times - it's like making a data curry! When it comes to data, 1+1 is greater than 2. New insights emerge when we combine different datasets. However, it's often difficult to find organizations willing to share this passion and do more with their data, especially in healthcare. Many immediately want to monetize what they have, rather than exploring what "more" they could achieve by first sharing and combining their data with others. That's why it was such a delight to meet Hayden Mortimer, who challenges this very closed mindset! Hayden and I met a couple of weeks ago, and we discovered we share the same philosophy: when we share and join data, the entire community moves forward and we can aim higher together! We're excited to announce that many of the mimilabs tables containing addresses will now be indexed with Placekey, a universal address key that you can use to join various location data and much more! To start, we've made Placekey available in NPIDATA, and we'll be releasing several more tables with Placekey integration. This is incredibly exciting! AI, property location data, and universal identifier standards: a short data nerd story. RESO had the good fortune of being introduced to Placekey, a property data company that recently became a member. The organization provides real estate data matching tools through addresses, unique IDs, confidence scores, and more. RESO just recently adopted a new version of the Universal Parcel Identifier (upi.reso.org) standard, which creates globally unique property identity. Placekey adopted the UPI immediately, building it into its request options through its API. Not everyone is comfortable writing requests to APIs or reading technical documentation, so I thought I'd test out ChatGPT 4o as an assistant for the non-technical person who might want to access this kind of data. While the process wasn't perfect, it was incredibly easy. With just a few non-technical questions, ChatGPT explained how to download the Postman app, set parameters for the request, and input address data to get back all of the related property data Placekey provides. Why is this important? The democratization of technology tools is happening incredibly quickly. Nimble technology companies adopt open global standards that provide cross-border value. AI LLMs make accessing that value incredibly simple and low-cost. In just a few minutes, a nontechnical person can now access data that matches addresses to geospatial information, government parcels and international identity. Massive industry organizations have struggled with accessing this kind of information for many years.
