📣 This giving season, we’re excited to share that we're matching up to $1 million in donations to two of our amazing partners, Vote Mama Foundation and the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers! Read on to learn about their work: 🏛️ Vote Mama Foundation is the leading source of research on the political participation of mothers, working to draw attention to the challenges that prevent all moms from running for and serving in elected office. 💞 The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers is focused on getting family caregivers—anyone who cares for a loved one who’s aging, ill, or disabled—the recognition and support they've long deserved. From now until December 13, all donations to either of these organizations will be matched 1:1 (up to $500,000 per organization). We couldn’t agree more with this analysis! A big shout-out to our partners at The Center for American Women and Politics for tracking these historic wins and elevating the importance of women in public office.
When so many of the policies that affect people’s daily lives get determined at the state level, I'm encouraged to see that a record number of women will serve in state legislatures in 2025, and three states now have a woman-majority legislature: Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico. The voices and perspectives of these legislators will be critical in the months and years ahead. But as The Center for American Women and Politics note in this article, we need to see a faster pace of change. That’s why Pivotal Ventures remains focused on ensuring that more women have the chance to run for and win elected office at every level of government. https://lnkd.in/gkbdikc4

Why do we need more women in tech? Because they do amazing things like automate the process for making quantum devices. Break Through Tech connected an ultra-talented team of CS undergrads to the lab where they spearheaded work that will revolutionize drug development, navigation, and more. https://lnkd.in/gZBGvV6B

📢 This #GivingTuesday, we're matching up to $1 million in donations toward Vote Mama Foundation and the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers, two amazing organizations doing important work to support women and families. Through noon ET December 13, Pivotal will match donations 1:1, up to $500,000 per organization. But as our founder Melinda French Gates says, there is more than one way to give back—you can also donate your time, voice, or expertise to help make a difference in your community. However you choose to give back, your contributions matter.
Today on #GivingTuesday, I'm excited to share that I’m partnering with Every.org to mobilize the power of everyday givers—those who do what they can, with what they have, to make a difference. Starting today through December 13, my organization Pivotal is matching up to $1 million in donations in support of two organizations I deeply admire: Vote Mama Foundation and the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers. Of course, there are so many ways to give back that have nothing to do with donating money. You can offer your time, your expertise, or even your voice to an issue you care about. However you choose to get involved and give back, you’re helping make the world a better place for more people. We believe in using different kinds of funding to accelerate social progress. Some of that funding is philanthropic, while some investments are designed to generate financial returns. In a new article, our Managing Director of Investments Erin Harkless Moore, CFA highlights the kinds of return-seeking investments we make, why we’re focused on getting more money in the hands of women founders and funders, and what we hope to signal to other investors through our approach. https://lnkd.in/g4qx3ZbS

Now that three states have achieved a woman-majority legislature and more women than ever will serve in state legislatures across the country, we’re thinking back to the conversation that our founder Melinda French Gates had with Cosmopolitan earlier this year about the importance of gender parity in state government and how to achieve it:
