At Humans in Charge Responsible AI Symposium, the first panel discussion after Adrián González Sánchez’s keynote brought together key figures from META, EY, and Microsoft to discuss the pressing challenges and strategies for responsible AI governance on digital platforms. 💡 Panelists highlighted several key points: Operationalizing Responsible AI: META’s Jakub Turowski emphasized the need for transparency, with META now using labeling tools to clearly identify AI-generated content, addressing a crucial aspect of responsible AI. Clear Guidance and Adaptation: EY’s Erik Slooten underscored the importance of structured adaptation strategies and ongoing education, stressing that responsible AI is about embedding ethical principles into a company’s very foundation. Balancing Innovation and Regulation: The discussion repeatedly returned to the importance of balanced regulations that foster innovation without hindering AI’s growth in Europe. Turowski noted that delays in regulatory clarity often impact European competitiveness in AI deployment. The session reinforced the need for collaboration between companies and regulators to set clear guidelines that support responsible AI and encourage innovation. How do you see the role of transparency and regulation in fostering responsible AI? #ResponsibleAI #AIRegulation #EthicalAI #Innovation #HumansinCharge Thanks to Dr. George A. Tilesch, the visionary behind Humans in Charge, and to National Media and Infocommunications Authority / Nemzeti Média- és Hírközlési Hatóság for making this event possible!

From Ethical to Accountable: At Humans in Charge Responsible AI Symposium, Adrián González Sánchez, Data & AI Lead at Microsoft Spain, highlighted a critical shift in his keynote speech: accountability in AI is now essential, driven by new regulations and societal expectations. 💡 “A lot of years ago, we were talking about ethical AI… Now, we have no choice but to be accountable,” Adrián stated, underlining the need for a structured, compliant approach to AI governance. Using a “puzzle” analogy, he described the integration of national standards, international frameworks like ISO, and industry-specific regulations as essential pieces in building responsible AI practices. For organizations, the key takeaway? Don’t reinvent the wheel. Using available standards and tools can help make responsible AI governance more effective and accessible. What steps do you think are most crucial for building accountability in AI? #ResponsibleAI #AIGovernance #AIRegulation #Innovation #HumansinCharge

What kind of future are we building with AI? At Humans in Charge Responsible AI Symposium, leading experts discussed how artificial intelligence is reshaping our world. The central question of the plenary session was: Are we using technology for human progress, or is technology using us? 💡 “AI is like electricity – it changes everything. And we need to be prepared for that,” was a key takeaway from the discussion. The conversation focused on the need to proactively regulate AI, ensuring that it serves humanity while protecting human rights, dignity, and fairness. Now is the time to build global collaboration between governments and businesses for responsible AI governance. What do you think? How should we regulate AI to ensure it benefits humanity? It was my pleasure to take part in and offered my contributions to the Humans in Charge 2024 International AI Symposium on October 7-8 in Budapest. Humans in Charge Symposium has brought together leading experts from major corporations, governments, academia, and international organizations to foster a diverse and knowledgeable community of practice. With a focus on operationalizing AI governance, as promised, the event delved into both strategic questions and practical challenges, setting the stage for a responsible future where machine intelligence serves humanity – and humans remain in charge. It was a hugely successful event. I learnt a lot from fellow speakers and the great coversations we had during and beside the conference. A big thank you to the organisers! Our panel dealt with AI, Youth and Education. My privilege to join Cecile Aptel (United Nations), Faisal Mohammed AlSimmari (Founding Chairman, UAE Child Protection Association), Levente Szabados (Managing Director, Neuron Solutions) to discuss the best practices on Children and AI: UNICEF perspective, AI in Youth protection: UAE perspective, AI education & skills: challenges and opportunities, among others. As children mean the future, so this topic will play a significant role on how AI technologies will be embedded, and adopted for the sake of humanity in generations to come. AI needs skills, a lot, so we also had a lively debate on what skills will be needed & how schools will be transformed in the future. As a summary of the Humans in Charge 2024, when talking about what WE need to set the stage for a responsible future where machine intelligence serves humanity and what to do to ensure humans in charge, I do feel that the following two questions were frequently asked and debated, yet with no clear answer: 1. Who are WE? 2. Who is WHO? in this new world. (& don’t tell me that robots don’t have their own aging issue. They need maintenance, costly, as well.) I parted this conference with these two questions in mind. For more information on the event, please visit: https://humansincharge.ai/

Yesterday, we had the honor of listening to Kay Firth-Butterfield's inspiring opening keynote at Humans in Charge 2024, one of the world’s top experts in AI and leadership. Kay is a leading force behind operationalizing responsible AI in 2024. She has been recognized as a TIME 100 Impact Awardee (2024), a Who’s Who Emerging Innovator, and included in the Forbes 50 Over 50. As the CEO of Good Tech Advisory and former Head of AI at the World Economic Forum, Kay has been at the forefront of AI governance globally. Her keynote raised crucial questions about AI's future role—not just as a tool, but as a partner. 📌 Key takeaways: 💠 WHO WILL FLY THE STARSHIP? Will AI take the lead, or will humans stay in control? This is essential as we navigate how to balance AI and human decision-making. 💠 DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES MATTER: Kay emphasized the need to go beyond the vision of the tech elite and consider how AI can serve diverse societies. 💠 TRUST IN AI: Restoring public trust is critical, and Kay highlighted that responsible AI should focus on both ethics and sustainability. 💠 HUMAN AUGMENTATION OR REPLACEMENT? Kay urged us to thoughtfully examine AI's role in job displacement, healthcare ethics, and the environmental impact of large AI models. As Kay reminded us, shaping the future requires a conversation beyond regulation. It’s time for collective action—is there an organization ready to lead this charge? Could it be us? Thanks to George A. Tilesch, the visionary behind Humans in Charge and the National Media and Infocommunications Authority / Nemzeti Média- és Hírközlési Hatóság for making this event possible! #ResponsibleAI #Leadership #HumanAIcollaboration #Innovation #HumansinCharge
