Uniting to support software technology standards for the #P20W sector is a pivotal step towards fostering innovation and efficiency. By leading through collaboration, we can enhance our technological capabilities and effectively tackle the complexities of this ecosystem. Developing next-generation digital services requires unifying architectures and shared understandings, which will help address semantic differences, varied capabilities, interdependencies, and siloed mindsets. This approach reduces the sector’s confusion, lowers risks, improves coordination, and tackles obsolescence that often hinders progress. The journey to unity involves overcoming challenges rooted in legacy systems and decentralization. The lack of widespread standards adoption leads to duplication and interoperability issues due to organizational misalignment. By investing in a joint technology standards development process led by the #DSU Signatories like PESC, organizations within the P20W sector can foster collaboration that builds trust through a network of stakeholders leading to create new solutions that respect diverse needs yet scale efficiently. That is so important as the sector addresses market pressures, limited resources, variation in capabilities and the reality of decentralization that fosters diversity and barriers layered by bias abstracted by how systems are composed attempting to bridge without foundation to rest. Aligning with DSU supports mission-driven goals across commerce, education, and research sectors—promising a prosperous future as more entities embrace these practices. Participating in DSU offers substantial benefits by revolutionizing how technology is leveraged within your organization through shared guidelines—enhancing our collective contributions to ensure the sector remains competitive and relevant. If you are leading a software initiaitve addressing education stakeholders, don't just build a driveway that stops fifty feet from your front door. Consider how your driveway should connect to the digital freeway. How do you collaborate with other applications? How can we trust the supply chain supporting our technology stack? How do we protect our data systems? How do we access data managed by others? How do we protect privacy? How do we support data integrations? How do we link to external data sources? Where do we go for the maps and guidance on how best to build software? How do we keep up with changes? We believe it is time we all invest in working together - even as competitiors, as we overcome our anxieties, risk and interests that impede us. We can share common ground and methods that will help us all scale the next generation of digital services embracing AI and machine learning. Don't stay on the sidelines isolating your efforts. That will put you at a long term disadvantage. Scale and sustainability - change and obsolenence - impacts all of us. Join the movement.

PESC Connects Institutions, Communities, and Learners in a Trusted, Borderless Ecosystem
About us
Leading the Establishment and Adoption of Trusted, Free & Open Data Standards Across the Education Domain Through open & transparent community participation, PESC enables cost-effective connectivity between data systems to accelerate performance and service, to simplify data access and research, and to improve data quality along the education lifecycle. PESC envisions national & international interoperability within the Education domain, supported by a trustworthy, inter-connected network built by and between communities of interest in which data flows seamlessly from one system to another and throughout the entire eco-system when and where needed without compatibility barriers but in a safe, secure, reliable, and efficient manner. While PESC promotes the implementation and usage of data exchange standards, PESC does not set (create or establish) policies related to privacy and security. Organizations and entities using PESC standards and services should ensure they comply with FERPA and all local, state, federal and international rules on privacy and security as applicable. Admissions, Financial Aid and Registrar processes are PESC’s primary strategic target audience – supported by: Student Information Systems (SIS), Application Centers/Hubs, Government Systems, State/Provincial-based systems, Transfer and Articulation Centers/Hubs, Vendor Systems and Hubs, among many others. A community forum, platform, or marketplace has grown within PESC, due to the focus, activities, experience & open, neutral, transparent environment and its attractiveness to those with the desire to: » improve their technology and/or overall interoperability » seek education, guidance and/or best practices on technology, standards, systems, integrations, projects, pilots » increase the visibility of their technology, standards, systems, integrations, projects, pilots, etc. and/or seek support » connect and network with others with similar needs
