I had the opportunity to spend the beginning of this week in Hershey, PA serving as a PICPA Council Member. We discussed the PICPA as an organization, their plans for the future, ways to get more students interested in accounting, and have even been discussing current CPA law. As of today I don’t have too much to share, but I do expect to share major updates in the upcoming weeks. Exciting things are on the horizon for Pennsylvania CPAs!

The position has many components but includes overseeing general accounting functions, being responsible for cash management, managing receivables and payables, and much more. Requirements include a bachelors degree in accounting, business or finance (a masters or CPA license is preferred but not required), and 5 years or more of related experience. The position is for a Senior Accountant and while duties vary, they include preparing financial statements, assisting with month-end close, and much more! Shout out to Behrend senior Kai Williams who was named a 2024-2025 PCAOB Scholar! A record 676 students from U.S. colleges and universities with accredited accounting programs have been awarded for the upcoming academic year. This is nearly double the number of awards given out last year. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 requires that the collection of PCAOB monetary penalties be used to fund a merit scholarship which has awarded over $10 million for the upcoming academic year. International Recycling Group (IRG), of Erie, PA is looking for a Chief Financial Officer to work closely with company leadership in the development of the company's first greenfield plastics recycling facility in Erie. The CFO will assist with developing the initial capitalization for the company, oversee disbursements during the construction phase, and will build financial forecasts for future growth with multiple plants.
