In an effort to advance a global carbon market, the parties to COP 29 — the United Nations climate conference hosted by Azerbaijan this year — approved important standards for such a market to be developed under Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement. In our latest Phast Track blog post, we explore how the approval purports to pave the way for uniform UN oversight of the eligibility of projects to generate carbon reduction credits that can be traded between countries. We had the privilege of hosting the launch event for the Navy SEAL Foundation's Trident Impact Network on Veterans Day. This event was an opportunity to honor and support our military community while also fostering connections between the Navy SEALs and the business world. Partner Robert Freedman welcomed Retired Rear Admiral Peter Vasely and Retired Command Master Chief Stephen "Mato" Matulewicz, who shared inspiring remarks about their military careers and discussed the core values of service, teamwork, resilience, and community that the Navy SEALs embody. At Paul Hastings, we are deeply committed to supporting veterans and military families. The focus of the initiative is to connect young professionals with the Foundation so they may build meaningful relationships and raise funds for the organization while creating opportunities for both personal and professional growth. In addition to celebrating our heroes, Veterans Day was a reminder of the lasting impact we all can have by supporting those who have served. Thank you to Lauren (Tsuchiya) Brooten for curating the event and to all our people who attended, with a special thanks to all of our clients who joined us. We are excited to watch the Trident Impact Network grow and thrive, as it promotes positive change for both veterans and young professionals alike. #VeteransDay #TeamPHintheCommunity #CorporateSocialResponsibility
