🚀 Happy Birthday, United States Space Force! 🚀 The United States Space Force was established December 20th, 2019, when the National Defense Authorization Act was signed into law with bi-partisan support. Created as the first new branch in the services in 73 years, the dawn of the Space Force resulted from widespread recognition that the defense and exploration of space is imperative to national security. The USSF serve across the globe, working to design, acquire, test, operate and defend the critical space systems the nation and world rely on. However, space is no longer free from conflict, as adversaries are seeking ways to deny free access. The USSF Guardian's have been called to protect and defend American interests, and the Space Force ensures our armed forces, allies and the world never experienced a day without space. Today, we celebrate the anniversary of the world's first and only independent space force!!! #SpaceForceBirthday #Innovation #SpaceExploration

Today we would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to the United States National Guard! The National Guard encapsulates both the Army National Guard (founded on December 13th) and the Air National Guard (celebrated on September 18th), The two components share a common mission to equip, train, and deploy when needed for contingencies around the world. The official date of installation of the National Guard is listed as December 13th, 1636, when the Massachusetts colonial legislature consolidated local militias into three regiments. This makes the National Guard older than the United States Army, with four current Army units – the 101st Engineer Battalion, 101st Field Artillery Regiment, 181st Infantry Regiment, and 182nd Infantry Regiment- directly descending from this historic reorganization. The Militia Act of 1792 later formalized their role, preserving the traditions and privileges of these early military units. The National Guard operates under the concept of "citizen soldiers," where members serve with military responsibilities and privileges while maintaining civilian careers and lives outside active military duty. Their role is critical in both homeland security and global military operations. This importance became very clear during the first operation of Desert Storm, which prompted the reconsideration of how Guard and Reserve Forces could be used to augment active-duty missions. Since the attacks of September 11th, more than 650,000 National Guard members have been called on to serve at home and abroad. Thank you to all members of the National Guard, past and present, for protecting our liberty and freedom at home and abroad. Happy Birthday!

On the morning of December 7th,1941, just before 8 am, the Pearl Harbor American Naval Base in Honolulu, Hawaii was attacked, marking a pivotal moment in American history. For over two hours, hundreds of Japan's fighters, bombers and torpedo planes carried out the surprise attack on American soil. The leadup to the attack on Pearl Harbor spanned several years, intensifying in the months before December 1941. Tensions grew as Japan pursued expansion into Southeast Asia, including the American-controlled Philippines, while diplomatic negations with the United States failed to resolve conflicts over territorial ambitions and economic sanctions. By late 1941, war with Japan was widely anticipated, through the exact nature and timing of hostilities remained uncertain. The attack on Pearl Harbor aimed to disable the U.S. Pacific Naval Fleet and undermine American morale to deter wartime involvement in World War II. However, on the evening of December 7th,1941, President Roosevelt declared it "a date which will live in infamy." In the face of this devastation, the resilience and determination of the American people surged, uniting the nation in support of the war effort. The United States had officially entered World War II, marking a significant chapter in global history. Today, we remember the loss of 2,204 American lives and the 1,178 that were wounded. We commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of those impacted, honoring their enduring legacy and valor.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Sam Thevanayagam, CEO at Parts Life, Inc. He is a true leader who sees challenges as opportunities. We covered everything from obsolescence to keeping fleets mission ready and making manufacturing attractive to the next generation. Sam leads with intent, turns challenges into growth, and mentors young talent. For example, the 18 year old from inner city Philadelphia now setting up machines at Parts Life. His passion shines through, whether he is collaborating with the DoD or preserving essential skills in manufacturing. One thing that struck me was Sam's analogy on reducing variability in manufacturing. It is like perfecting a golf swing. Less variability means a consistent outcome, whether on the course or the shop floor. Manufacturing is often seen as a throwaway industry, but Sam reminds us of the art involved. Skills like resoling shoes may seem outdated, but they are crucial. Parts Life preserves these skills by passing down wisdom from experienced artisans to young talent. Take a listen if you want to learn how manufacturing can adapt, sustain, and uplift. Let us keep making this industry one that people want to join! #RapidFireManufacturing #Manufacturing #Innovation #WorkforceDevelopment #Leadership David Turner
