I'm beyond excited to share that Eric Ridge, the founder of ZomboDB and original author of pgrx, is the latest addition to the ParadeDB team.
Eric brings a wealth of experience at the intersection of full-text search, PostgreSQL Global Development Group, and Rust. In many ways, ZomboDB is the precursor project to ParadeDB and this feels like the natural next step in our shared journey.
Eric has changed the Postgres world forever. The majority of startups working on Postgres today do it via extensions, and they do it via pgrx. This includes ParadeDB, PostgresML, Timescale, Tembo, Supabase and many others.
Without Eric and pgrx, ParadeDB would not have been possible. Zombo inspired us and others to build high-quality Postgres extensions and pgrx is the foundation upon which a large chunk of the future of the Postgres ecosystem is being built.
Eric will continue maintaining pgrx alongside his work at ParadeDB. We're proud to be able to give back to pgrx and ParadeDB is committed to contributing, albeit in a small way, to a healthy future for pgrx.
We're excited for ParadeDB to carry the torch that Eric and ZomboDB ignited many years ago, and for Eric to be a part of our journey. Great things are coming. I can't reveal everything just yet, but you'll want to follow along. Star us and follow us on Twitter for updates.
This brings our team to a total of 4:
- Ming, my co-founder and our CTO
- Neil, our lead pg_search architect
- Eric, our resident Postgres expert
- And myself (hi!)
If you want to work on Postgres and help build the world's best search and analytics database, come say hi!
Until then, back to work. You can find us all hanging out. over here: https://lnkd.in/gmn_q8Mg
