Ever been to a dinner party and the host sat you next to the "wrong" person? It can be awful! Preparing to engage with internal and external stakeholders on #CSRD, #doublemateriality and #materialityasessment surveys is similar to being a great host. Put together a thoughtful stakeholder engagement strategy and the meaningful answers and valuable data will flow. Do it wrong, and you'll get limited responses, bad data or worse - stakeholder pushback. In your engagement strategy, consider for each stakeholder: - What are their business' short-term vs. long-term drivers and how do they align with ESG and Sustainability? - Who should be the one reaching out to them, you or someone else in the business such as sales or procurement? - What background context do they need on #CSRD or the reason for the survey? What is too much or too little? - Is this the first time they've been asked to fill out an ESG-related survey... or the tenth? And... more. You'll find that the answers may overlap but one stakeholder engagement approach will not fit all. Take the time to nuance your stakeholder engagement strategy to get the right survey insights. Your CSRD, SEC, California, Annual Sustainability Report teams will thank you. What's a best practice you apply with stakeholder management?
