About us
PATA is an action network of health providers and health facilities in sub-Saharan Africa. Our goal is to effect positive change in paediatric and adolescent HIV policy and service delivery on the frontline. The PATA network has been a springboard in developing a range of incubation projects that inform the development and distribution of promising paediatric and adolescent models in HIV prevention, treatment and care. Through PATA’s unique reach across health facilities in sub-Saharan Africa, the network connects frontline health providers to global policy platforms, working groups and consortium, as part of a collective effort to reach global targets and improve paediatric and adolescent outcomes. PATA aims to achieve the following on the frontline of paediatric and adolescent HIV service delivery: 1.Build and support an engaged network of health providers, facilities and communities. 2. Facilitate platforms for linking and learning to share knowledge and promising practices. 3. Champion innovative and targeted paediatric and adolescent HIV service delivery models. 4. Generate, collate and disseminate evidence and collaborate in joint advocacy initiatives and partnerships.

The HIV Impact Network for Vertical Transmission Elimination #HIVE project aims to decrease vertical transmission of HIV in children, through closing testing, treatment, and retention gaps for pregnant and breastfeeding women living with HIV, ensuring early testing and treatment for infants, and keeping mothers and children healthy. But achieving this demands strong political will. As Dr Michelle Chevalier from GHSD/PEPFAR stated during the HIVE launch in Johannesburg last week, "We need passionate leaders to move HIVE forward." Governments must link community data and feedback into programmes, and foster transparency in country assessments to improve outcomes for children and pregnant women.
