PACESETTERS is a Horizon Europe funded research and innovation action starting in March 2024. Its 15 consortium partners will set out to create knowledge from collaborative, artistic and practice-based research to keep pace with the transition. We will propose and stress test innovative and sustainable ideas across creative disciplines to set the pace of the transition. Finally, we will assess strategies of future valorisation to push the pace of the transition.

What a week! The opening of our PACESETTERS Project Real World Laboratories in #GenalguacilGenalguacil and #NowaHuta took place under real world conditions. It is clear to me that we are in the new hotspots, not in the capitals, but where the challenges of climate change are felt, inescapable and connected to our daily lives. In these places, the social and cultural aspects are inextricably linked to the climate transition, whether it is reshaping rural futures to combat depopulation, or working towards cultural and creative resilience for a society that is welcoming and thriving for people on the move. It takes a bit of madness and creativity not to shy away from the challenges ahead. I'm grateful for the opportunity to do this together with allies in the PACESETTERS Project and beyond. 🕊️ An end to enable new beginnings Genalguacil's Real World Laboratory’s mission is to connect communities and territories to promote new entrepreneurial approaches. It supports policymakers in updating innovation regulations and highlights the role of rural regions as a catalyst to rethink innovation for the triple transition. The closing day unfolded a Roundtable and a broadcast on the FM band of the local radio radio waves, featuring the PACESETTERS from the vicinity. As the PACESETTERS embarque on a hike to connect with the territory and collect their impressions, the event concludes by opening important and intricate questions: ❓What role does "the rural" play as a solution to current emergencies and challenges, as a space for transformation? ❓From the entity that you represent, to what extent do you contribute to the enhancement of the rural in the face of the demographic challenge? ❓How do we better explore and integrate different forms of knowledge: local, heritage, scientific, artistic, to realize the opportunity of the triple transition? ❓Why do you think innovation arises from where we least expect it? 📍 #Punto de Encuentro, a space for peers to foster social cohesion and local development in a green key. 👀 On November 14th, 2024, in the framework of the puntos de encuentro the Real World Laboratory kicked off in the quarters of @Lab_Genaguacil. Local civil servants, neighbors, and creative minds came together with researchers to redefine the role of rural and remote areas in the green transition. 🥗 Because brainstorming is hard on an empty stomach, locally produced snacks were offered during the Innovation Gatherings. Based on an approach that connects art, heritage, culture and nature these gatherings explored ways to place local knowledge at the heart of rethinking innovation, co-creating processes to unlock local knowledge, foster trust and ambition for collective entrepreneurial action. ♻️ The format was hybrid, yet centered on the now and here. After an introduction by PACSETTERS, the gathering broke up in 3 rooms holding conversations from different perspectives on how local knowledge is at the heart of rethinking innovation: - How to cohabitate with the natural environement? - Every day life with a museum in town. - The question of making something new.
