Roger Brook will be presenting at the ITS-PA annual meeting on September 16th at Session 3B. "Financially Sustainable V2X Infrastructure: New Options for Funding and Delivering V2X Infrastructure. Case Study with RCOC". Federal grant programs are subject to sunsets and political demands and fuel tax revenues are on a long-term decline. Private infrastructure capital can play an important role in improving safety and mobility on our roadways. Longer term, V2X infrastructure can also support secure digital-based user-based road charging programs to help offset operation and maintenance costs for IOOs. Red-light running is a leading cause of crashes, especially those that result in severe injuries and fatalities. Over 100,000 motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are injured annually by red-light runners. Half of the people killed by red-light runners are not the signal violators — they are passengers, other motorists, and vulnerable road users. While red-light cameras can be a valuable tool for enforcement, V2X Red-Light Violation Warnings prevent these crashes from ever happening because they alert all drivers approaching or in the intersection in real time to take evasive action. Red-Light Violation Warnings are another reason why V2X is an important investment for agencies, vehicle OEMs, insurers and fleets. #ITS #VulnerableRoadUsers #V2X #TrafficEngineering #TransportationPlanning

Sitting on the sidelines is no longer an option for the transportation industry with an interest in safer roads. The USDOT released their National Deployment Plan for V2X ... with specific deployment goals for the Automotive Industry as well as for State and Local Transportation Agencies.
