About us

Overflow helps changemakers create stories and experiences to get ideas adopted.   The problem with innovation today isn’t discovery — it’s adoption. Overflow accelerates the adoption of ideas through strategic story, experience design and creative production. No matter what capabilities are deployed, story is always at the center to help ideas be understood, adopted and shared.   What Is Idea Adoption? Idea adoption is the practice of sharing intentional stories among members of a group over time so that more advantageous ideas are accepted and desired behavior changes follow.   How Does It Work? At Overflow, we keep story at the center during every stage of our process. We use strategic story, experience design and creative production to magnify human connection and engage early adopters to spread ideas. Overflow understands the shape of story, the process of behavior change and storytelling across a variety of mediums to get ideas adopted.   Certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE) 2024 KC Chamber Top 10 Small Business of the Year 2024 KC Chamber Fan Favorite 2024 KC Chamber Small Business Superstar

  • The holidays remind us of the power of stories — the traditions we share, the connections we build and the moments we hold on to, year after year. Like holiday traditions, the stories we tell shape our experiences and add meaning to our lives. So, we’re curious to know: what's your favorite holiday story or memory? We’d love to hear it in the comments!

  • At Overflow, we celebrate our wins with a bang – literally! Since adding a gong to our office last year, it’s become a fun way to celebrate milestones big and small – a *cymbal* of our team’s successes. As 2024 wraps up, we’re reflecting on all of our “gong moments” this year, each representing the culmination of hard work, creativity and collaboration. What wins are you celebrating this year?

  • Story maps are one method we use to convey a story visually. They are unique works of art with strategy embedded throughout that help audiences digest a story in a new way. Our most recent story map was created for the Kansas Housing Advocacy Network to explore five common questions related to homelessness in Kansas. Built as an interactive webpage, visitors can follow the path to watch informative videos, download PDF resources and compare misperceptions with reality – with all materials available in English and Spanish. Visit kshomelessness.com/khan to explore the functionality and learn more about each topic in detail. To see more story maps, visit https://lnkd.in/eHEC-rja

  • We were honored to take home the gold in the Collaborative Campaign category for the fentanyl awareness campaign, You Never Know, at the Nonprofit Connect Philly Awards! This award represents a collaborative effort between nonprofit organizations that increased awareness and achieved greater results than what would have been achieved separately. We are so grateful to share this recognition with Keepin’ Clean for Coop, Johnson County Mental Health Center and the Johnson County Prevention and Recovery Coalition - all doing such important work in the prevention space. Thank you to Nonprofit Connect for shining a light on all of the incredible organizations making a difference in and around the KC community! #YouNeverKnow #PhillyAwards

  • Cheering on our events team as they tackle one of our largest programs of the year this week! As Matt, our Director of Global Events & Experiences, mentions, large-scale events like this require meticulous planning and effort from many talented individuals, both on-site and behind the scenes to ensure their success. We're grateful to work with some of the best!

Have you ever wondered what a large corporate event looks like before the attendees get there? Here’s a few pics from this morning as we start to set-up for a 2,000 person meeting. It’s not all glitz and glamor – it’s planning, long days and labor to get things where they need to be in order to execute at the highest level. And you can’t do it all yourself – you need to surround yourself with quality people that collaborate and have a similar mindset on execution and priorities. I’m working with a great team this week - I love events!!

  • What an exciting celebration of the remarkable talent in our region at the Mid-America EMMY® Awards! While we didn’t take home the EMMY for You Never Know, we are honored to be recognized for our work on such an important topic. The real win is knowing that this campaign has reached thousands of young people with the life-saving reminder to think twice before taking a pill not prescribed by a medical professional, filled at a licensed pharmacy and taken as directed. Because with fentanyl, you never know. We want to thank Keepin’ Clean for Coop, the Johnson County Prevention and Recovery Coalition and Johnson County Mental Health Center for trusting our team to bring this campaign to life — and for all of their vital prevention efforts. We share this honor with them! #emmymidam #youneverknow #fentanylawareness
