This event provided the perfect platform to demonstrate how we’re transforming byproducts from the agriculture and food industries into nutritious, delicious, Myco-based products and ingredients—all with sustainability and a healthier future in mind. Our Cultured Caviar was selected to be part of Growth Factory's Future of Food Recipe Challenge and last week chefs John Nunn from Mulvaney’s and Eríc Martínez from Crispin Supper Club creativity shined as they crafted two completely unique dishes, each showcasing the versatility and innovation of our product. It was amazing to see such culinary talent bring our Cultured Caviar to life in such distinct and flavorful ways. Cultivated black sea bass, microalgae, and a novel mycelium-delivery platform all feature in our new cohort 🚀. 🤩 Our new-look #programme kicks off this week with our latest cohort, and we’re excited to share them with you! Cohort 12: here’s who they are, where they’re based, and what they do… 🐠 Atlantic Fish Co (United States): Founders Doug Grant and Trevor Ham established Atlantic Fish Co in 2022 to develop #cultivated seafood with a focus on wild-caught marine white fish such as sea bass, snapper, flounder, and grouper. In April 2024, they unveiled the “world’s first” cultivated black sea bass. 🍣 Optimized Foods (United States): Founders Minami O. Maja Segerman Nielsen, Cody Yothers, Zane Starkewolfe and Lynn Hanson, have developed a proprietary platform for #mycelium based ingredient encapsulation and stabilisation. "This allows us to tune the texture, taste, and nutritional value of alternative protein products by encapsulating fats, flavours and nutrients in our MycoCarrier™ to address a wide range of food and ingredient challenges facing the industry today.” 🧬AlProtein (Egypt/United States): Omar Zaghloul and Mohamed Almoatasem founded AlProtein to develop ingredients using #microalgae and water lentils, for use by plant-based meat and cheese manufacturers. “Our AI-powered biomanufacturing technology produces high-quality proteins at scale, replacing synthetic additives and binders, and without using any fresh water or arable land." 🐟 Fisheroo (Singapore): Founder Aaron Chua Yu Xiang is a biotechnologist by training and worked in the cultivated industry for three years. Inspired by this, he established Fisheroo to develop #enablingtechnologies for manufacturing companies to cultivate meat and seafood from cells in a more efficient and economical way. 🐈Friends & Family Pet Food Co (United States): Joshua Errett, Jonny C. and Dr Sarah Dodd co-founded Friends & Family Pet Food Company to develop a new generation of #petfood using yeast and cultivated ingredients. With a strong emphasis on nutrition, the products are designed to meet the protein requirements for both cats and dogs, containing essential amino acids and other benefits. We’re delighted to have them all on board and can’t wait to see them grow over the course of the programme 💚. 💫 We’ve revamped our programme this year to give participants more time, more coaching and more opportunities to take their business to the next level. We’ve extended the length of the programme from 12 weeks to five months. Last week was exciting and eventful! We had the privilege of participating in two great events: one hosted by MISTA and another co-hosted by Growth Factory and Blue Rise Ventures. At the latter, we were honored to contribute to a panel discussion shedding light on the significance of cooperative pilot manufacturing and effective fundraising strategies. Attendees at both events had the chance to taste burger samples made with our innovative fat encapsulation product, Hyphat™.
