We are thrilled to see the National Housing Federation (NHF) and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) announce a new standard for social housing stock condition surveys launching next year. As Curo’s Victor da Cunha recently highlighted, the goal should be homes tenants feel proud of, not just meeting the "good enough" threshold of the Decent Homes Standard. The commitment to a “universal approach” to data collection is a major step forward for the sector. It will enable better comparisons, drive innovation, and provide much-needed clarity for both landlords and tenants. While not mandatory, this move towards collaboration, unification, and data-driven decisions is essential to ensure quality homes that are safe, warm, and desirable for all residents.
