The communities in Orbost, Nowa Nowa, Swifts Creek, Yarram, Heyfield and Noojee are among those eligible to apply now for funding through the State Government's $22 million Community Development Fund. The fund supports projects and opportunities to boost the local economy of forestry towns. Community organisations, business groups, educational and research organisations, businesses, local councils and utility service providers can apply for funding to implement projects and for supporting infrastructure. Funding is available through two grant streams. The first enables communities to undertake project management and upskill community members to help identify future economic opportunities; the second targets initiatives supported by local Innovation Working Groups and through the Local Development Strategies. The working groups include community members working to diversify their town’s economy where native timber harvesting was a significant source of jobs. Up to an additional $1.5 million is available to the working groups to pursue investment opportunities identified as part of the Local Development Strategy to create jobs and boost the local economy. Who's enjoying this view on the trip along the Princes Highway between Traralgon and Sale? After around 14 years of construction, the duplication of the Princes Highway is nearly finished. Workers are completing the finishing touches and drivers are already enjoying the benefits. The highway duplication must rank among Gippsland's most important infrastructure projects and we thank everyone who worked hard over many years to make it happen. #lovegippsland #regionalinvestment #infrastructure #governmentinvestment #roads #princeshighway #highwayduplication #EastGippslandShireCouncil #WellingtonShireCouncil #SouthGippslandShireCouncil #BassCoastShireCouncil #LatrobeCityCouncil #BawBawShireCouncil #FoodandFibreGippsland #TafeGippsland #FederationUniversity #DestinationGippsland #GLaWAC #GunaikurnaiLandandWatersAboriginalCorporation #VisitGippsland
