Non-profit Organizations
Oceana is dedicated to protecting the world's oceans on a global scale.
About us
Oceana is the largest international advocacy organization dedicated solely to ocean conservation. Oceana is rebuilding abundant and biodiverse oceans by winning science-based policies in countries that control one-quarter of the world’s wild fish catch. With more than 275 victories that stop overfishing, habitat destruction, oil and plastic pollution, and the killing of threatened species like turtles, whales, and sharks, Oceana’s campaigns are delivering results. A restored ocean means that 1 billion people can enjoy a healthy seafood meal every day, forever. Together, we can save the oceans and help feed the world. Visit Oceana.org to learn more.

The Coca-Cola Company has just quietly scrapped its 25% reusable packaging target, backpedaling on key sustainability commitments. Yet in El Paso, Texas, the company is proving that reusable systems work. Over 100 restaurants are participating in a refillable glass bottle program, reducing waste and cutting costs. Our new 5-minute video, Exposed: Coke’s Secret Refill Pilot, hosted by actress Yareli Arizmendi, uncovers this successful reuse model and raises the question: If reuse works in El Paso, why isn’t Coca-Cola scaling it globally? It’s time for the beverage industry to mainstream reuse and step away from plastic. Watch Exposed: Coke’s Secret Refill Pilot:

🐳 Making a whale of an entrance! North Atlantic right whale ‘Nauset’ is the first mother to be identified this calving season. She was spotted with her new not-so-little bundle of joy off the Sapelo Island, Georgia. This is her fifth known calf, with her last born four years ago during the 2021 calving season. Whale-done mama! Want to send well wishes to ‘Nauset’?
