About us
In addition to our many, many years of experience, our founders all had something in common: we felt as if we had seen banking change -- for the worse. We shared the conviction that what we do could be done better by returning to some of the age-old practices that had been lost, and also by offering a new, more streamlined set of services. We believed banking could simply be done smarter. The essential practice of building a deeply bonded relationship between financial advisor and client - a relationship that was common a century or so ago - has been lost. Banks have evolved to a point at which they spend much of their money and time on less important things - not the things we at Oakworth believe to be so vital. So we have re-thought banking - from the way transactions are handled, to how deeply we know our clients, to the technology we employ to serve them. "Instead of asking why don’t American investor pay greater attention to what’s happening in the wider world, a better question might be: why would they? The United States is where the revenue and profits are in the global economy." Read more from Chief Economist, John Norris, as he dives deeper into the topic of why we are all disengaged from what is going on in the world: https://lnkd.in/gAf3NhGT

Syrian rebels ended a 5-decade dynasty last weekend and the U.S. stock market barely noticed. Do American investors simply not care about the rest of the world? Will the long-standing reign of the "strongman" of the Middle East ever change? In this week’s Trading Perspectives, Samuel Clement and John Norris discuss the recent Syrian Revolution, and why Americans ignored it almost as soon as it happened.
