NTSB Member Mike Graham recently spoke at the NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration Aircraft Operations Center's Safety Seminar in Lakeland, FL. Member Graham emphasized, "Decisions made every day affect an operation’s margin of safety. A reduced margin of safety increases the likelihood that an unexpected event will lead to an accident. You must respect the unexpected." #NOAA #NTSB #aviationsafety

We honor the lives lost in the tragic TWA Flight 514. NTSB Chair Homendy recently spoke to surviving family members and first responders at the Bluemont Community Center to commemorate the 50th anniversary of this devastating event. "TWA Flight 514 is the reason that large commercial airplanes today must be equipped with ground proximity warning systems, technology that warns pilots of terrain with enough time to take corrective action. The knowledge we drew from this tragedy has made us all safer, not just here in the U.S., but globally,” said Chair Homendy.
