Advancing Economic Equity Together
About us
Founded in 1972, the National Minority Supplier Development Council Inc.® (NMSDC®) is the longest-operating business growth engine for the broadest group of systematically excluded communities of color (Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Black, Hispanic, and Native American), and our impact goes far beyond supply chain. It’s about upward mobility for the emerging majority of Americans, an equal shot at participating in the American experiment of free-market capitalism and entrepreneurship. Our work is about correcting the unequal access to wealth-building opportunities. Our Mission To serve as a growth engine for NMSDC certified minority businesses and enable our members to advance economic equity. We create connections between minority business enterprises (MBEs) and corporations, MBEs and the public sector, and MBEs and other MBEs, to help them benefit from each other, stoking entrepreneurship and growing wealth for these systemically excluded communities. Our Vision To be the leading organization for driving socioeconomic equity and generational wealth in communities of color. We build capacity and capabilities through our programs and other educational offerings that help close that wealth gap, the key to creating a more united and prosperous society for all. Our Network NMSDC is supported by 23 Regional Affiliates nationwide which are the backbone of our gold standard certification program, working in the field locally to ensure our 15,000+ certified MBEs reach their full potential with our 1,500+ corporate members. Our Impact For the last 50 years, NMSDC has been advocating access to the American dream for MBEs. Our success is historic and unmatched: over 15,000 MBEs connected to more than 1,500 corporations, resulting in nearly $400 billion in economic output annually, generating $130 billion in tax revenue, and sustaining 1.75 million jobs. We are the nation’s largest, most impactful, and successful non-profit advocacy organization for MBEs.

Honored to represent National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) at the Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA)’s annual board leader gathering led by Ozzie (Oswaldo) Gromada Meza. Two powerful stories—different in origin yet united in spirit—brought the essence of the American experience to life. Bill Ford Jr., the executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, great-grandson of Henry Ford, reminded us: “You cannot operate a healthy company without a healthy community.” His words reflect a profound understanding of legacy and responsibility—a call to build not just businesses, but the communities that sustain them. Jose Mas of MasTec, a 2nd generation MBE/entrepreneur and Cuban-born immigrant who has built MasTec into a Fortune 500 company and also changed how Americans view sccocer via his Inter Miami CF, shared a compelling perspective: Create a culture where people are driven to win, and think like an immigrant—stay hungry, stay relentless, and earn your place every single day. His journey embodies grit, determination, and the relentless pursuit of opportunity. Two distinct paths—one grounded in the generational legacy, the other carved from sheer perseverance of an immigrant - yet both illuminate the same truth: the American story is not defined by where we start, but by what we strive to build. It is about resilience, purpose, and the courage to shape a better future for ourselves and others. #Leadership #AmericanDream #LCDA #Resilience #MBE Jorge Plasencia, Monika Mantilla Cid Wilson David Segura Fred Diaz Errika Moore
