Super-powerful video from our client about the person who helped shape his career. Who is that person for you?
Every relationship begins with an introduction—a moment when two people meet for the first time, and the future of that relationship is uncertain. Some relationships endure for years, sustained by love, support, and the effort needed to nurture them. More commonly, relationships have a clear beginning, middle, and end. But then there are those unique relationships, though brief in comparison, that leave a lasting and profound impact on your life, career, and future self. The true depth of their influence often takes years to fully understand. As I reflect on the past 30 years—on who I was, who I am, and who I want to become—there are four people who stand out in my professional journey. The reality is that I haven’t been in contact with two of them for many years, but their impact on me remains undeniable. The influence they had during the relatively short time we worked together continues to shape my life today. These individuals inspired me to be better. They were mentors who led by example, shared their knowledge, and gave me opportunities to grow—each in their own unique way. How often do we pause and take the opportunity to thank the people who have shaped our lives? I imagine not often enough. In the case of Debbie Jackson, I saw an opportunity to invite her to our office to thank her in person and celebrate the success that came from the one opportunity she encouraged me to take. An opportunity, that lead to a successful thriving business —one I love and didn’t even know I wanted. To those I consider mentors — Gail Steffen, John Winslow, and Erwin Schinnerl—thank you. Though our time together was brief, it was profoundly impactful. I took the knowledge you shared, observed your leadership, and held onto the parts that served me. At the time, I had no way of understanding how the hard work, self-doubt, and experiences we shared would come together to shape my future. Today, I can clearly see the results of your influence. I am deeply grateful for each of you and the contributions you made to my journey.
