Providing professional development opportunities and sharing best practices in university-industry corporate relations.
About us
As higher education plays an increasing role in economic development, and in light of the challenging fiscal environment in which many of our institutions operate, it is more important than ever for colleges and universities to create and maintain dynamic relationships with business and industry. To this end, institutions are creating or strengthening corporate relations offices whose goal is to reach out to companies and entrepreneurs and help them fully explore and access the resources available to them across campus. Such resources include student recruitment, research collaborations, specialized training, and leadership development opportunities. The long term goal of NACRO and its membership is to engage industry in a setting that allows for open discussion while sharing best practices with peers. As corporate philanthropy and R&D evolves towards increasingly collaborative activities, NACRO will aid in defining these roles. As corporations expand globally but work locally, they seek the “front door” to an academic institution that a university corporate relations office can provide.

Season’s Greetings NACRO colleagues! As we look back at the first few months of our presidential term, we are excited and thankful for all the great work being planned, in progress, and executed by our wonderful committee volunteers and leaders. All of this work is aimed at serving the needs of our members - you - and equipping you with resources to help navigate corporate relations in a dynamically changing higher education landscape. For example, the Midwinter Leadership Meeting at UC Irvine University Club from February 3-5, 2025, will include a professional development session for NACRO volunteers. While you may have noticed visible evidences of our hard work - like a more navigable website, and a long list of webinars, regional meetups and networking events aimed at advancing your skills and expertise - others are behind-the-scenes as we make progress on our efforts to help you develop and accelerate your career in corporate relations. For example, our Communications Committee is working with an expert to reimagine NACRO’s marketing and communications strategy, including the creation of original content that helps you stay tuned and adapt to shifting higher education trends. We are thrilled about the progress being made across multiple fronts this year and look forward to sharing updates in the new year. In the meantime, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. Happy Holidays, Priya Baboo & Tim Hausman 2024-2025 NACRO Co-Presidents
