Creating a healthier future for all children #WellBeyondMedicine

About us

Nemours is committed to improving the health of children. As a non-profit children’s health organization, we consider the health of every child to be a sacred trust. Through family-centered care in our children’s hospitals and clinics in Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida, as well as world-changing research, education and advocacy, Nemours fulfills the promise of a healthier tomorrow for all children — even those who may never enter our doors. Nemours began more than 80 years ago with the vision of Alfred I. duPont to improve the lives of children and to do whatever it takes to prevent and treat even the most disabling childhood conditions. Today, through our children’s hospitals and health system, we directly care for 250,000 children annually in Delaware Valley and Florida, including families who travel from across the country and world to see our specialists — treating every child as we would our own. We also reach beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics to be a voice for children on a national and international level, and to lead the way in prevention, intervention, education, and research. Nemours is growing to better serve the children and families in our care. We have 1.1 million square feet of space currently devoted to providing children’s healthcare or under construction, all designed with significant input and advice from our patients and families.

We are proud to announce the expansion of our partnership with the Jacksonville Jaguars as their official pediatric partner. Over the next three years, Nemours Children’s Health and the Jaguars will launch the first-ever Jaguars Kids Club, offering exclusive access and events for young fans. We’re also thrilled to have Brian Thomas Jr. and Maason Smith join us as our inaugural NFL brand ambassadors, supporting our mission to improve children's lives on and off the field. Today, the Jaguars had the honor of meeting Elena, who is being treated for leukemia at Nemours. Her mom, Natalie, shared their inspiring story – she’s been cancer free for 17 years after being treated for leukemia at Nemours as a child! This partnership is a testament to our shared mission of making a positive impact in the lives of children like Elena. For more details, visit: https://bit.ly/3ZfGXXT

Dark design refers to manipulative tactics in apps, games and websites that exploit behavior often targeting children through deceptive practices. These designs are crafted to maximize engagement, but at what cost? The consequences can include mental health challenges, issues with addiction, privacy risks and exploitation. Amy Gavril, MD, MSCI and Laurel Aynne Cook, PhD, from West Virginia University, shed light on the prevalence of these tactics and how children’s developmental vulnerabilities make them especially susceptible. • Dave Chokshi, MD, and Kara Odom Walker MD, MPH, MSHS, tackled one of the most pressing issues of our time: eliminating health disparities to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive. The conversation, recorded during the Ginsburg Institute’s Child Health Equity Symposium, highlights the lessons of the COVID-19 pandemic showing what’s possible when we unite for systemic change. From halving child poverty to expanding access to health care, collaborative action proved transformative. Both leaders emphasized that inequities are preventable and solvable. It takes bold policies, partnerships, and a commitment to prioritize health equity – not as an afterthought but as the main focus.
