#OTD in 1996, FBI agent Earl Edwin Pitts was arrested for providing information to Russia on FBI personnel, ongoing investigations, counterintelligence program strategies, and operational methodology. Pitts later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 27 years in prison.

#OTD 1998, nuclear physicist Peter Lee was sentenced to prison for passing secrets to China & making false statements. While working at Los Alamos National Lab, he disclosed classified info to Chinese scientists during a trip to China and lied about the trip on security forms.

#OTD 1941, fourteen members of the 33 member Frederick Duquesne spy ring were found guilty at trial in Brooklyn, NY. All members of the WWII-era German spy ring were convicted and sentenced to a total of more than 300 years in prison.
