We are thrilled to announce that Diane Yentel will be the next Chief Executive Officer of the National Council of Nonprofits. With 24 years of dedicated service to the nonprofit sector Diane will lead North America’s largest network of nonprofits in a period of transformative change. Diane reflected, “I’m honored and delighted to have the opportunity to lead NCN’s talented team and partners, building off their impressive accomplishments to achieve still deeper and greater impact. I see limitless potential for what we can achieve together, and I look forward to getting started!” With more than 800 applicants for the role, Diane’s deep commitment to equity, her ability to galvanize a network, and her ethic of service demonstrated that she is the leader for NCN’s next chapter. This week’s Nonprofit Champion newsletter looked at two spending priorities of Congress that could directly impact nonprofits: 1️⃣ Congress has not enacted any of the 12 appropriations bills to fund the federal government and the current continuing resolution expires on December 20th. It is expected that another continuing resolution will be passed, and this continued delay will also delay any promised earmarks to charitable nonprofits. 2️⃣ Congress is expected to consider a disaster relief package that could provide significant tax incentives for charitable giving and help communities recover from the impacts of the recent devasting storms. Charitable nonprofits can help secure passage of this vital tax relief legislation by urging their Representatives to cosponsor the bill.
