Professor, Department of Graduate Studies in Nursing, Adelphi University College of Nursing and Public Health
I am thrilled to announce the incredible success of our inaugural event, Student Alumni Advocacy Forum of the Adelphi University College of Nursing and Public Health (SAAF) which took place on Nov. 12, 2024, with the theme, “The Essence of Connections for Lifelong Professional Success!” The energy, enthusiasm, and collaboration shown by all who attended made this a truly invigorating experience. It was a day filled with insightful information, meaningful connections, and my keynote that set the stage for future events for this brainchild initiative of our dean, Dr. Deborah Hunt PhD, RN. We couldn’t be more excited to have launched this exciting journey with such a dynamic planning committee, composed of Drs. Adrial A. Lobelo Deborah Ambrosio Marilyn Klainberg Zainab Toteh Osakwe, PhD, MSN, NP Caitlin McElroy and Fara Maldonado. I am grateful and appreciative to have been the keynote speaker where I shared my personal journey towards my current accomplishments. I reminded folks that accomplishments can be relative, personal, goal-oriented, temporary and changing. The outcome of one’s accomplishments must be one of personal or professional satisfaction. We also have our own path and time to our accomplishments. We take our own road to our accomplishments at our own time. We are not in competition with anyone. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to our distinguished panelists, whose expertise and passion added to its success. Your contributions were instrumental in making this event a memorable and impactful experience for everyone involved. Dr. Kenya Williams Williams (CEO of NSNA) Matthew Zender (Vice-President of NSNA) Kattiria Rosario-Gonzalez, PhD, RN, Caritas Coach, FNYAM (President, Alpha Omega Chapter of @sigma theta tau international Dan Suarez, MA RN NYAM Fellow (President-elect, National Association of Hispanic Nurses) Dr. Donna Willenbrock (Past President, Nurse Practitioner Association District 7) Brenda Janotha (President-elect, Nurse Practitioner Association District 7) Kimberly Velez (NACLI and ANA-NY) Much appreciation to Northwell Health for generously sponsoring the event, as well as to the students, alumni, staff and faculty who attended to make this inaugural SAAF event a tremendous success!
