We are so proud that our very own Fiona T. was highlighted by RHITES (Reproductive Health Initiative for Telehealth Equity & Solutions) as a Telehealth Medication Abortion Champion! This is such a well-deserved honor for someone who does so much to expand access to medication abortion care. Congrats, Fiona!

It's wonderful to see our members get the chance to share their stories with donors and leaders who are interested in the challenges abortion providers face. Last week, Phoebe Gates visited our members at DuPont Clinic in DC and wrote this piece about her experience https://lnkd.in/gbqG86ua

Frontline clinic workers make abortion access possible. It's Labor Day in the U.S. and Labour Day in Canada and today (and every day!) we want to celebrate and appreciate our member abortion providers who work so hard all year long to care for their patients and communities. Cheers to you! Thank you for everything you do!

Karlie Kloss recently visited one of our member clinics in Florida and wrote about the excellent care they provide and the heartbreaking effects of the state's abortion ban. Abortion bans harm people every day and members like the Office of Michael Benjamin are helping people navigate their options and get the care they need and deserve. We are so grateful for our members doing this work every day and for people like Karlie Kloss who are sharing their stories.
Today, I am proud to share my piece in The Miami Herald about the fight for reproductive rights in Florida. Last month, I visited the Michael Benjamin abortion clinic in Tamarac, Florida. I heard the stories of patient after patient navigating the state-wide abortion ban. They are just a few of the estimated five million women across Florida (and 25 million nationwide) who no longer have the freedom to make this deeply personal decision for themselves. Instead, anti-choice state legislators are making it for them. One out of three American women of childbearing age now lives under an abortion ban. That means a 13-year old rape victim in Mississippi was forced to give birth. It means a woman in Idaho miscarried for 19 days after being turned away by the ER three times because of abortion laws. It means women in Texas are losing fallopian tubes when hospitals refuse them abortion care amid ectopic pregnancies. There are economic consequences to abortion bans too: limiting women’s access to reproductive healthcare costs the American economy $68 billion annually. In Florida, abortion restrictions cost the state $6 billion a year and limit women’s economic potential. I’m grateful to learn from and stand alongside the doctors, advocates, and leaders who are tirelessly caring for those in need across organizations like Michael Benjamin Surgical Services, Abortion Bridge Collaborative Fund, and Abortion Care Network. This November, Floridians will have the power to guarantee access to reproductive healthcare across the state by voting YES on Amendment 4. The health and safety of women and girls across the state of Florida (and beyond) is at stake. Together, we can put these important decisions back in the hands of families and their doctors, not politicians. #YesOn4 #Florida https://lnkd.in/eTvaX9uu

TOMORROW is the last day to VOTE for our SXSW Panel proposal: Ready to Work: How Abortion Access Builds a Strong Workforce VOTE HERE: https://lnkd.in/g9VNRuvW Abortion access is good for business. Women make up over half of the college-educated labor force, but barriers to reproductive care stop them from fully participating in the workforce. Abortion bans cost state economies an average of $173B/yr nationally by reducing labor participation, earnings levels, and increasing turnover and time off for women of reproductive age. The real costs are likely higher now as 21 states and counting restrict abortion. This panel examines how employers can invest in the workforce of today and the future by meaningfully and creatively expanding abortion access.

NAF's CEO will join this expert panel this week. You can join virtually.
Join us on June 27 for a critical discussion on the evolving landscape of #ReproductiveRights in the U.S. Two years after the pivotal Supreme Court decision, our expert panel will shed light on the impact of recent abortion bans and restrictions. #PostDobbs Register: https://hsph.me/abortion

It’s been 15 years since our member, colleague, and friend Dr. George Tiller was assassinated by an anti-abortion extremist and we miss him every day. We all need George with us now. Dr. Tiller was a fighter and if he were here today, he would be fighting alongside us and doing all he could to help patients access abortion care just like he did when he was alive.
