We worked with Sims Lifecycle Services over the course of 4-6 weeks, from planning to delivery, to provide still images and short videos, that showcase the benefits and features of their services. A full-day video shoot was complemented by product photography to create core marketing and website assets 🎥 All these assets were stitched together into an interactive touch screen presentation, which the Sims team continues to use at trade shows. When should you use 3D animation vs product photography? 3D animation is great when: 🆕 You’re launching a new product and want to create marketing buzz ⚙️ Your product’s internal working are worth showcasing and will influence the purchasing decision 🔢 You have a large number of products with multiple designs across the range 🐘 You can’t easily bring the product into the studio for a shoot (maybe it’s particularly large or bulky) Product photography is great for: 🎁 Soft goods - cost optimization and speed of output is great here ✨ If you only have one product and you only need a few images of it 💎 When you want a real-life showcase of an experience or thing But, this is actually a bit of a trick question. Sometimes you don’t have to choose! Shooting in an industrial environment poses a lot of specific challenges. A shop floor or a factory line is not your traditional filming set. They tend to be noisy and greasy—far from glamorous—and you’ve got to work with what you have. Even if people are prepped for the shoot, people get distracted by work and responsibilities, and they’re experts in machinery, not acting and performing. If you want great industrial photography or videography, you need a team who understands the basics of manufacturing and is used to this environment so that the different variables at play won’t come as a surprise. You also need a team that understands what’s important for an industrial client, to highlight the things they care about, like safely displayed metrics on the floor, wearing the right protective equipment, and a clean and well-kept workspace—not just the industrial photo cliche of welding sparks flying. And you need a team who can tell the story of your company’s vision, mission, and values. We’re experienced in working with industrial clients to draw out the best in their operations.
