Celebrated étoile dancer & choreographer of the Paris Ballet Opera, Marie-Agnes Gillot, rehearses for the premiere of “For Gods Only / Sacre #3” in Reishi™. In a new work by Olivier Dubois, Gillot performs an entire solo piece as a samurai reacting to the burdens of legacy, sacrifice and the disappearance of time, clothed in Reishi™ armor made by artist Morgane Tschiember. Artist Morgane Tschiember created both the costume and the set design, a series of two pieces that intensify the encounter with the sacred: “Reishi embodies story itself. Everything is already written in its expressions.” “For Gods Only / Sacre #3” premieres Nov 28–Dec 7 at Théâtre du Rond-Point @rondpointparis. Introducing Reishi™ for theatre and dance: A beautifully crafted samurai suit made with Reishi by artist Morgane Tschiember, to be performed in by celebrated étoile dancer & choreographer of the Paris Ballet Opera, Marie-Agnès Gillot. In a new work by Olivier Dubois, “For Gods Only / Sacre #3,” Gillot performs the entire solo piece as a samurai reacting to the burdens of legacy, sacrifice and the disappearance of time, clothed in Reishi™ armor. Her intense and hypnotic movements are accentuated by the Reishi™ costume and a soaring set design, both created by artist Morgane Tschiember. In a continuing collaboration with MycoWorks, Tschiember chose Reishi for this new production inspired by the unique ability of our material to convey an artistic narrative: “Reishi embodies story itself. Everything is already written in its expressions.” “For Gods Only / Sacre #3” premieres Nov 28–Dec 7 at Théâtre du Rond-Point. See more at https://lnkd.in/dC6idVfQ

”I’m a hard believer of the beautiful balance between art and science. When you work with Reishi, you realize you're seeing and feeling something entirely new. And it inspires a sense of wonder. So in some ways, art was the only path that could lead to Reishi.“ – Sophia Wang, MycoWorks co-founder. CARCY magazine teamed up with MycoWorks for its 12th issue to create a limited edition cover made with Reishi™ printed with chimeras – the promises of other futures – and spoke with Sophia Wang and Creative Director Xevi Gallego about using art and science to inspire creative industries. Featuring a samurai costume made with Reishi™ by artist Morgane Tschiember for the dance piece ‘For Gods Only. Sacre #3’ by Olivier Dubois, premiering Nov 28 at Théâtre du Rond-Point.

The making of Éventail Palmettes hand-fans made with Reishi™ by DUVELLEROY. The marquetry design is inspired by kinetic art, playing on progression and revelation in the movement of the fan’s opening. Here, master craftsperson Valentine Huyghues Despointes is shown fabricating the fans from palmettes cut with a different template for each, then assembling the leaves onto the fans’ structure, adjusting the thread tension so that the pattern’s continuity is perfect once the fan is fully opened. Introducing the Éventail Palmettes hand-fans, Éclipse and Thunder, a collaboration for couture between the historic Parisian maison DUVELLEROY and a new category of material, Reishi™. Handmade in France, Éventail Palmettes Éclipse & Thunder find their inspiration in a centuries-rich history, and their meaning in modern times. Beloved by European statesmen and royalty since the 1800s, the fan house of Duvelleroy now collaborates with Frédérick Gay, Valentine Huyghues Despointes, and other masters of the form to revive the signature crafts that were emblematic of the original house. MycoWorks is excited to collaborate with Duvelleroy to explore new possibilities in heritage craftsmanship and cutting-edge object design.
