Yesterday, I had the incredible honor of attending the FLOC Family Leave Optimal Coverage hearing in Lansing, standing proudly with Mothering Justice to advocate for this critical cause. Hearing the powerful testimony from my shero and colleague, Christina Hayes, was truly inspiring and a reminder of why this fight matters so much. A huge thank you to Senator Erika Geiss for championing Senate Bills 332 and 333, which would allow employees to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave for circumstances such as maternity leave, paternity leave, caring for oneself or a family member facing a long-term illness, and providing care for those impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, or other types of violence. This policy is pivotal in ensuring Michigan families have the support they need, and I’m proud to stand on the side of justice following the advancement of the bills. #FamilyLeave #PolicyMatters #Mamasagenda #MotheringJustice #FLOC #PaidLeaveMatters

“We’re one step closer!” 🗣️ Yesterday, Senator Geiss led the charge to bring Michigan families closer to paid family leave for all working families! Mothering Justice, alongside our partners, testified before the Michigan Senate Housing & Human Services Committee in support of Senate Bills 332 and 333—key pieces of the Family Leave and Care Act (FLOC). These bills aim to provide Michigan families with the paid family leave and caregiving resources they need, addressing systemic barriers that disproportionately impact mothers, especially mothers of color. This is about more than policy—it’s about creating equity and opportunity for families across Michigan. 💻 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e86DQrfn
