  • We all know that cocktails can be shaken and stirred, but did you know they can be built as well? Here’s the difference between the three techniques: Building – when a cocktail is made directly in the glass, over ice, before stirring. This is one of the easiest ways to fix a drink and the perfect start for new mixologists. Stirred – a technique that is used to delicately combine the ingredients to create a crystal-clear cocktail. A drink mixer is used to gently ‘stir’ the ingredients around the ice cubes and is used for gin and whisky cocktails such as a Negroni. This method should always be done in a stirring glass to strain off any melting water that may dilute the drink. Shaken – involves chilling and mixing the ingredients with a shaker to integrate them into the drink’s flavour. This is generally the preferred method if you’re making a drink containing fruit juices, cream liqueurs, syrup or non-alcoholic mixers. Try a Cosmopolitan for a classic ‘shaken’ cocktail. #cocktails #mixologists #cocktails #cocktailgifts #gift #giftideas

  • All of our cocktails come pre-mixed so they’re ready to shake, pour and enjoy. We take our mixology very seriously, which is why our drinks always comprise of three key components: Base – the spirit on which the cocktail is based such as rum, vodka or whisky. Modifier – the ingredient added to the base to give the drink character and tone down the potency. Popular examples include fruit juices, cream, vermouth and Champagne. Flavouring – these give the drink a finishing touch to enhance its taste and appearance. Bitters and syrups such as Grenadine are often used because of their taste and vibrant colours. #cocktails #mixologists #cocktails #cocktailgifts #gift #giftideas

  • Cocktails taste great in any sort of glass, but the right accessories can help you serve up a drink that looks as stylish as it is delicious. Have a quick read of our guide to you help you decide which type of glass to pair with your tipple for the perfect cocktail hour.   -  Martini glass – This cone-shaped glass is most commonly associated with cocktails that aren’t serve over ice. Its tall, elegant stem makes is easy to hold without heating up your drink, making it the perfect choice for Martinis and Cosmopolitans.   -  Tumblers – A versatile choice that suits most spirits served over ice such as whiskeys or cocktails. Tapered, narrower openings will help preserve the flavour of your drink better than a wider design, whereas a straight tumbler is a classic option often used to serve shorter drinks.   -  Tall, long drink glass – Designed for drinks where sprits are mixed with a non-alcoholic option such as lemonade or fruit juice, this type of cocktail glass can be tall and round, or straight and narrow. Volume is the order of the day, so opt for a generous sized glass if you enjoy larger quantities of mixers in your cocktails.   -  Champagne glasses – Traditionally used for champagne or prosecco, these glasses are also perfect for cocktails with a bit of fizz. Try serving a bubbly champagne cocktail in your flute glass with a garnish on the edge for a touch of elegance.   #cocktails #mixologists #cocktails #cocktailgifts #gift #giftideas

  • Garnishes can make or break a cocktail by complimenting their flavour and adding a touch of elegance. If you want to add something extra to your drink, our quick guide will ensure your glass is decorated with the right flourish. Lime – use for margaritas, mojitos and drinks containing a sour mix to enhance their taste. Lemon – typically used to garnish drinks such as an old fashioned or a whiskey sour, but also work well with martinis. Cherries – delicious with piña coladas, Mai Tais and whiskey-based drinks to add a sweet taste. They also go well with anything that uses a sour mix but give any glass a vibrant look. Olives – Best used for gin-based drinks or vodka martinis. Avoid using with fruity cocktails and make sure you use one or three olives as two is said to bring bad luck! #cocktails #mixologists #cocktails #cocktailgifts #gift #giftideas
