As the end of 2024 draws nearer, we at MTI are reflecting on the incredible power of community. Across the globe and in our own neighborhoods in the face of obstacles and overwhelm, we have seen how much we can achieve when we come together, support one another, and focus on shared goals. At MTI, we remain steadfast in our mission to advance transportation safety, equity, and sustainability for everyone. Mobility is more than movement—it’s opportunity. It’s the bridge to economic, social, and educational access. 2024 has been a year of milestones, collaborations, and impactful change. At MTI, we continue to improve and expand on existing programs and build new projects and collaborations. Thirty-three years after its inception, MTI continues to grow thanks to our amazing leadership, researchers, staff, partners, and support from all of you. At the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) at San Jose State University (SJSU) our mission is to increase mobility for all by improving the safety, efficiency, accessibility, and convenience of our nations’ transportation system. Through research, education, workforce development and technology transfer, we help create a connected world. Founded in 1991, MTI is a university transportation center funded by the US Departments of Transportation, the California Department of Transportation, and public and private grants, including those made available by the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017 (SB1). MTI is affiliated with SJSU’s Lucas College and Graduate School of Business.
